Pirate Live

Got to watch some of the Live computer feed Friday off of Pirate. This was the first time I have watched anything that way, it came across really well. Glad to see a local guy(52x Will Carter) do well, as well as Team NAXJA.

Pirate also had people writing in as the event went on. Only complaint there was someone messaging in, think the name was ustreamer or something like that, appeared to be from North Carolina and NC4x4. He (making that assumption based on some of the comments) did not represent the region and NC4x4 well. Way to many comments and very inappropriate. This was a national event, Will did a great job representing the region, ustreamer did not.

Anyone not registered with the host site who was posting was tagged ustreamer-xxxxx.

ustreamer-xxxx

Okay, that makes sense ustreamer was an anonymous, multi-poster. Comments coming from ustreamer, at least while I was watching, were fast and furious, and very inappropriate. Glad they weren't a local. Someone from NC4x4 posted while I watched and I assumed it was a specific individual. My bad, thanks for the clarification.

Very very impressive Will, i don't care how or what wheel was mounted to the back of that thing he finished and beat some serious competitors with some serious budgets. And i assume has never raced or wheeled in that terrian. Half of those guys race/wheel that shit everyday.

I could not be more impressed well done, well done.

x8 couldn't have said it better. great job will!!!

to be honest...i dont think Mr. Super Lance come off to appropriate himself. How many kids might have been watching? Super Lance must have dropped the ''F'' bomb 50 times while i was watching. Not to mention countless other profanities. I'm just saying.

KICK ASS that 2 of our guys made it out there and raced. Regardless of finish position, just running in that race is a huge accomplishment. Anyone who has been involved in any form of organized competition knows how huge of a step is required to go from Joe Hobby to entering a competition. I can't wait to see the highlight videos and pictures that will hopefully be coming out in the next few weeks..

lance is lance. i guess with it his even he does as he pleases, especially when there is nobody to require him to censor himself. I guess the swearing doesn't bother me as I'm in construction and hear it just as much if not more everyday. But, overall, it was a great event and kudos to Will

I think the part that really impresses me is how well his buggy held up with what i would consider virtually no seat time since finishing it. Testament to how well he built it the first time.

I saw the negative comments and bad talking, but i ignored it cause I was really interested in Will and I was one of the USstreamers calling for info on 52x. Sorry if it got annoying Lance, but oh well.
Will Carter is someone we can all look up to in this for doing what he did:beer::beer:

SaaLUTE' to the 52 X-ray team...

Way to Go Fellas...You Done Us Proud Out in Cali...!!!

Be Safe Headed Back...Cold Brews here waitin' on Ya'...

The Wreckin Crew had vehicle 911 in that race, it was the Yellow Land Rover. They DNF'd at CP3 with a red hot yellow top battery.

Congrats to Will Carter.

Does anyone know if Shannon Campbell knew he was DQ'd when he went back out on the course?

we had a great time, Got to ride in the LCQ with Sambo. We had a great line picked and a high speed shift into low range figured out...
Preety much had the first wall, and suddenly no drive from the back.
Ended up braking the rear yoke on the STAK. Sucked pretty bad as we were on a good pace to qaulify!

Will Had a good race. good starting place got him out before it bottled up in the rock sections too badly. We did not get to prerun the course as much as we'd have liked, but it turned out pretty well.
Chasing from pit to pit was pretty fun. Hauling across the desert in the duramax loaded with spares and tools, on the phone with my wife in NC giving us updates from the blog, so we could rerlay them to will on the radio was pretty crazy!
As far a sthe race went for us, we were in 7/8/9th place at the Calrocs pit (#3) decided to look the car over really fast at the checkpoint, to look for obvious problems, and skip the pit(12 miles to go) It was between that pit and the finish that the campbell incident happened:shaking:. We lost about 10 places on the final desert section due to the car only being able to go 15-20 miles with the broken front shock. A lot of the other cars we had passed earlier in the race came around us, thus the 18th place
We are really proud of Will, as it really is a pretty huge accomplishment to finnish the race at all, let alone to come in top 20 beating a lot of more prepared/funded/equipped teams. Overall, i think we did really well as a team, Good pit stops saved us some time, final car prep saved us from a lot of smaller issues that others encountered.
We have a 3 day drive back across country now to start plkanning for next year. We've got our eyes on a guy with a green M on his car!

On another note, it was reaaly cool to be on the lakebed rubbing elbows with many of the big names of our sport. Walker Evans himself offered me a part off his spare shock to get Sams car ready to race on thursday. Everybody we met was really cool, and for the most part ready to help out one another to help everybody get in the race. We are very fortunate to be involved in a sport where the "idols" we admire are so accesibleto us.

On a final note....HAving been to Johnson valley now, it would be an absolute TRAVESTY to us as wheelers and to the public in general to loose this incredible place! We as a community need to redouble our efforts to not let the places be closed to us!
I'll get some pics up soon, Dave

we heard over race radio pretty early in the race that Shannon was DQ"D. he should have heard it too!

Hey hey I'm here....and I'm sore...

Come on Dave...6 miles through the desert and halfway up jackhammer is hardly prerunning...

You'll prolly read some smack talk about that pass Campbell made on me... I'll write my full race story when I get back but the Shannon and his team took care of me as well as Jeff Knoll and Dave Cole (head KOH guys).

Oh yeah...we secured a spot for KOH '10...:driver:

They are starting to discuss it over on PBB in Campbells build thread. Mods, if this is cross posting please delete, and I will respect that. But IMO what he did is complete BS and the masses will let him get away with it if no one put's him in the hot seat.....

began to think it was a mythical place:huggy:
