im looking for opinions on spray on bed liners. we all know rhyno and line-x, but are there more (better or maybe cheaper) options?

anyone have any likes, dislikes, best warranty (as well as actually honoring the warranty), most durable?

im looking for something that will protect the bed and provide good skid resistance. truck is a 95 chevy standard bed.

Herculiner. Follow the instructions and they turn out GREAT. Might take more than a gallon to do a full-size bed, but I think they sell it in quart sizes too. Line-X is not very 'soft', stuff still seems to slide. Rhinoliner is softer and more skid resistant. BUT it all depends who mixes/sprays it from what I have noticed.

If my truck didn't come with a spray in liner when I got it, I would have done Herculiner.

DO NOT USE the Bondo-brand bedliner, it SUCKS.

SEM makes a good liner. You can buy it at most parts places the mix paint. This is a two part system. You have the material, part A, and mix with the catalyst, part B. It sprays well out of any under coat gun. I think it make a much harder more durable surface than the Herculiner.

herculiner for DIY, line-x for professional.

i had line-x in my ram (when it had a bed), and i've got it in my ford. we also use it in all of our company trucks. only one has sustained damage, and they've all seen heavy use/abuse. it was repaired no questions asked and blended well.

well its sad to say i have reached a point im doing less and less DIY projects, im starting to get a lot more pissed off turning wrenches than actually enjoying any of it, ive built a 4runner and finishing up a boat, i might leave my dd up to the pros.
anyway, line-x might be the ticket, does anyone know anthing about price differences between different vendors?

line-x is definitely the way to go then. i haven't checked prices in a while, but they were about $50 cheaper than rhino the last time i had a need to price them. the guy here in raleigh can do neat stencils also on the floor or whatever. bowtie symbol, etc.

main advantages to line-x i've seen:

-looks cleaner overall because it's sprayed at an ambient temp. rhino sags alot on the sides as is cures since it's done hot, makes for a sloppy look to me.

-doesn't sun fade as bad as rhino

-repairs actually hold up and blend in. rhino repairs look like crap and it doesn't bond to itself very well after the initial spraying.

Line-X, no question if you are going to pay to have it done.

Seen a thing on TV once about Line-X. The inside of the Pentagon was sprayed with it after 9-11. They took a cinderblock and threw it off a 3 story building onto asphalt. First without LX and it smashed. With LX it bounced around like a beach ball.

I'd do LineX if I was rolling in dough.

Saw Rhino once and it was some thick heavy shit! Line X seemed thinner and lighter to do the same job.

I used Herculiner in the tub of my Jeep and I hate it. It faded after about a year. And the first time you run a knuckle across it......you will figure out the other reason I hate it. Its like sandpaper. Not very thick either!

hey man, if you would pm me a price that would be awesome,

the truck is a 95 chevy excab z71, standard bed, bed is all original, stock white paint. I want over the rail.

I know Will in Boone sprays line x too. He has a screen name on here but cant remember what it is.

its rockbottom something? why you trying to send business to boone sam? j/k!

we are getting the whole ground level of our new beach house sprayed with line-x inside and out... their warranty is the best out there, period. we tested 4 different company's products on 2' x 3' samples of our concrete walls (which are joined by steel welded platesd) and LINEX looked the best and sealed the best. all 4 samples were tossed into the salt water for 5 weeks..... linex came out without any damage or any salt water seapage. rhino came out great also but the texture of the finish wasn't nearly as uniform. herculiner looked ok but somehow salt water found a way through the membrane and allowed the steel plate to begin to rust. i forget the 4th company but it also failed.

ultimately, Line-X got the $60k job.....

-erik <--- used that crappy duraliner on the jeep's interior... crap in comparison to "real" liners
