Lil Digger Truck - ECORS Stock Racer Build

Depends on what the stipulations are? I am always up for ideas and conversation. I already have a good plan that is bombproof, but I always like to get further, quicker when I see a good chance to.

Looks like I'm going to be watching this race....:shaking:

An obnoxious blow off valve is a must.

Yeah loud and obnoxious, me likey:lol:

My long time friend Jason Medlin has stepped up to the plate and is bringing his mechanical background to the table with CheckMate. I am going to pretty much give him free reigns with this motor and let it be his baby.

He said he's going to order a crank kit before he even loosens a bolt.... I'm just the average joe with a motor so, I'm really glad he has joined our team!

All the bolts are bent.... Go Figure:rolleyes:

David, you know I have a High-tech driveway shop just down the road with plenty of tools if you ever need to get anything done.

Can you use that in ECORS A-class? Don't think Turbo was a factory option in '85...

Well, I've got a million reasons leading me back to a Weber, and I've decided to duke it out with a Weber, BUT that is a great question.... The turbo motors were sold in late 85 according to the WikiPedia Calendar Year Chart on the 4th Generation Toyota Hilux Pickup....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Hilux

Yeah, for the '86 model year. Which unfortunately was after the changover from SFA. Toyota has this bad habit of changing stuff mid year... it's made parts for my '89 a real PITA at parts houses :shaking:
Sadly, there is no native combo of solid axle AND a turbo... or that would certainly be THE most sought after old-school Toyota ever!

Great link, btw.

A stroker w/ Weber would still be pretty awesome, if you can get the tuning right. And if you skip the turbo, you could resell that top end to recover some costs I'm sure.

This website says 85 hilux all the way.

The Toyota 2.4L turbo-charged engine was installed in Toyota manufactured vehicles from late 1985. Also known as the 22R-TE, it was the highest specification engine released in the Toyota R-Series, which were known for their reasonable fuel efficiency, good durability, and impressive low to mid-range torque. The 22R-TE was available in the Toyota 4Runner, produced in 1987, and the Toyota Hilux pickup, which was produced between 1985 and 1988, after which the engine was discontinued. The engine was only produced for the U.S. market.

I was thinking about selling the turbo motor but I think I'm going to put it my daily driver.... Oooo! that would allow me to use my DD 22r in my race truck........ Hmmm MIND STIRRING

One note, I *think* there is a small difference in the RTE block, an extra oil passage for the turbo, so if you switch over you either have to swap the whole thing or tap the block.
