Lots of interesting news today

So 15% of a wind turbine (the blades) can't currently be recycled in a high quantity process stream yet, after producing power for decades? Still sounds like a pretty damn good way to generate clean power.

After 10 years, their generation rate is about half of design capacity. After 15-20 years, they're garbage. Most of them get sent to scrap at about 10-15 years of service.

Now that we are on track for re-usable rockets, and have a whole DoD branch dedicated to space.... how long until we solve this problem by sending them into the sun?

If it's cost-prohibitive to haul them to a recycling facility, it's definitely cost-prohibitive to launch them into space.

But not space-prohibitive.
We're eventually going to hit a point where we're running out of room, and the cost of rocket fuel is less valuable than area in the ground.

This isn't just for the wind turbine blades, it's a question for all waste

You seem to misunderstand how vast the earth is.

You seem to underestimate how cool it would be to deal with our trash by using the solar system's largest incinerator :flipoff2:

It's not like we get our trash from outer space... If it came from earth, we must have the room for it here somewhere! I see no reason to toss the mass of earth into the sun until we start mining asteroids for raw material.... Mean time we should figure out how to make the stuff safe to keep here...

Also this:

"Conservatives have never truly understood the cultural battle. Yes, we occasionally fight the culture war — from time to time, we fight back against some idiotic TV show or nasty movie; we’ll mobilize others to unsubscribe from Netflix over promotion of reprehensible material; we’ll stop watching the Oscars after being insulted one too many times. But the simple truth is that we conservatives live increasingly in the same culture as those on the Left. Because our media are national in scope, we consume the same sort of material as those who disagree with us. We may yell at Netflix and Apple TV and Hulu and Disney+ and ESPN, but most of us still subscribe to one of those services. And Daily Wire and Fox News and conservative media aren’t competition for those services, either in what they do, or in the numbers they reach. Fox News’ primetime numbers this year, which were stellar, averaged about 3.6 million people. Netflix has over 70 million US subscribers. The difference between the reach of political content and entertainment content is at least an order of magnitude. There is a reason millions of people believe lies about conservatives. They’ve been trained to do so by a culture that despises conservatives."

Proposed rules for the 2021 House of Representatives requires the use of gender inclusive language in all proceedings. And in the spirit of inclusivity, a Democrat Representative from MO gave the invocation for the swearing in of new Reps...and ended it with "Amen and A-women"

US Consumer Product Safety Commission, to Sue Kidde over Botched Recalls.
Pretty much applies to extinguishers from 2017 & back, with Plastic handles, or the Test Button.

Yeah, but on 33's and dry pavement. Maybe that 3.6 has more power than I thought and Fiat really is better than Dodge.

It takes a wind turbine 5-7 years just to pay for itself.
