Lots of interesting news today

I've seen how quickly and easily the window people can change a pane or gasket or frame on our windows here at the office. I ain't throwing a puppy at it.
Right? I've seen how these things go in. I don't trust them as far as I could kick them, literally.

Either tragedy averted in Atlanta today, or the media is puffing it up. Probably a little of both. Poor guy just left his assault weapon in the car while he stopped in for some airport coffee.

🤦‍♂️

Nothing surprising there except that i took so long for them to get to that point. There aren't laws in China that make what they were doing illegal, so it's just the way business is conducted, and if you don't want your product or process copied, you don't sell to a company in China.

Even though the Chinese engineers weren't successful in putting the system back in operation, I'm sure they learned a lot tearing it down and trying, and they'll be watching closely while ASML gets it back to operational.

This

We get tons of lighting reps in our office that are furious with China buying their products and doing exactly what these folks did. As an example, More "Rigid" LED lights are Chinese copies than actual Rigid lights. Down to the packaging and QR codes on the boards. You have to take the light apart and look at the solder points to tell.

UP merger with Norfolk Southern in 85 billion deal

It's not looking good for Jamaica.

"It could challenge the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane (892mb) for the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall in the Atlantic Basin. This is a horrible development for Jamaica because it means Melissa will likely be at its peak strength when it makes landfall. The core of destructive winds will cause complete structural failure to even the strongest of buildings. Winds in the mountains will exceed 200 mph. Trees will be completely deforested and debarked. Infrastructure exposed to the winds will be completely destroyed. This means long-duration power outages and communications failure. Heavy flooding rain and mudslides will wash away roads, isolating communities for long periods of time. On the coast, life-threatening storm surge will cause additional destruction."

I wonder if its too late for me to start a 'minority' owned biz and get sone lucrative rebuilding contracts?
Really? Hundreds, probably thousands, of people are about to die because of an unavoidable natural disaster and this is the choice of reply? :shaking:
