I back what Ricky said 100%.
One thing I'll say from my own 2cents is I agree with not chargin the clown gatefee to perform at the circus.
As for the co-driver, thats the racer's prerogative whether or not he needs one on this course. Other places, maybe.

Now I don't want to seem unorganized but yeah me and Johnny went over the numbers and were gonna get it done so everyone was happy based on what we had at the time - but Ricky is right, you need to go by the rules based on entries and the 60/40 money prize payout. I'll say this too, I radio'ed to Ricky that I went over the payouts and had to leave and I'd check in with him on ALL of it before I left.
Another 2cents I agree with: A minimum entry guaranteed payout would be nice to have.

We waited Saturday morning to see if Joe and 2 more guys were gonna show up. True. Found out later that one was smoke, one didn't want to race afterall and found out later Joe went home broke.
And Seriously, thanks to all you guys for letting Larry Jackson run twice when he sputtered out. Thats Class.

Someone was talking about an awards ceremony, yeah we had one earlier last year on Sunday because we had no events on Sunday. We still had a few to run this year on Sunday and were gonna have it after. What happened after I left... I dunno. Would it be nice to have trophies, yeah sure. Am I responsible for that, No. I am just the Race official.

BTW - I Bet money Wilson will stand up for his Gift Certificates. He knows who won.

I hope I was fair to everyone and you guys had a great time.
I said it over and over, if we only had more racers, the payouts would be greater. Guaranteed.
I want to say thanks to all you guys for coming out and I wish it hadn't rained or we would've had a great grudge pull. I think some folks knew the rain was coming so the real competitors stayed home.

Also I seem to perceive that some people don't like mud races or grudge pullin. Shit they put just as much time and money in that as we do our rigs. Just cause you can't relate to the style of competition - does mean that it is stupid? Hell no. Its all good clean fun. I say come out and have some fun, whether its a derby, mud race or rock crawl or grudge pull. Aint tryin to pee on anyone but have some respect for the rigs and competitors. I don't care much for motocross but you see me knockin it, Nope.

I know I had a good time and so did my brother.

OH and one last thing - Whoever brought me to the house when I wrecked into the Fence Saturday night - THANK YOU.
Who was that? Seriously I don't remember.

John - seriously I wasnt drunk.
The ER tested me for drugs and alcohol.
My eyes mistook a different set of fence posts for the way out and ran right into the wires.

well long story short.
Was around 11-1130 and I was goin to move the 4wheeler over to the frontyard and there is a break in the cattle fencing that I was headed towards to get to the driveway and around to my GF's house. I had the ATV's lights on and I guess I misjudged which posts I was looking at. Hit the wires at an angle and rolled that SOB. I'd been thru those post most of the weekend. Pisses me off I didn't make it this time.

I don't rmbr shit from the time the ATV bucked up and I heard metal wires snapping until I got brought to the house and my bro took me to the Troy ER. I got nasty black and blue bruise on my leg and back of my thigh swole as hell and my forearm swole up from instinctively blocking the wire from gettin my face and my shoulder is jacked up. Crazy thing is my right shoe got torn off my foot and the toes of my sock got ripped clean off.
But there aint a scratch on me and my feet are fine.
Hopefully gonna follow up with an ortho Dr soon.
Seriously freak accident.

Glad to hear you're OK. Take care man!

yeah could've been really worse.
No doubt - but seriously if anyone knows those dudes who picked me up and brought me over... tell 'em I said thanks.

May Jam 2010

I have been at the beach for my birthday in a tent happily without phone. Please put away your swords, this is easy.
1. Prizes
I gave two different types of gift certificates (2) to BDS, and (2) for Wilson Off Road in total $1200.00
I should have printed them up, made them look snazzy, but I didn't. I just gave my word, it has worked for me, and I honor that. Ricky forget the wrench bring a gun! Lol
As far as the ARB gift cert. go if you want the two hundred dollars bear with me and as soon as I have a customer that is getting one anyway I will hook you up. I had nothing to do with money
2.Trophy for Rob.
I was under the impression that it was a freestyle comp, but I have your trophy being returned to me from Thomas White the D class winner and I will make him another one that says D class. It makes me feel great you want one, thanks. I will make you a cleaner one if you want. If the gift cert. creates a problem with your sponsors please feel free to come by or call, we can work it out. Awesome show, and thanks for being there.
3. The Event
I had a blast. If I got to race people I respect, and put on the pressure, give my friends in the band a place to play and a paycheck, John some money to keep his place open, Ricky a place to blab at, and support what I love to do with people I care about, it was worth every silly cent. People from all over just came to watch and got a great show. I ask that you understand a sponsor backed out and I tried everything I could to make up for it. I promise the racers will get taken care of. Remember, I am a racer too. I hope that we can look at the mistakes that were made and make next year bigger and better. I hope to see ECOR turn into the next big thing. I hope to see Lee County just get bigger. 4x4 cross racing and off road is something everybody can do, but I didn't see a bunch of racers, must have been SCARED! I hope that everything we do to keep our sport alive is not done in vane. I feel blessed to be able to even afford to sponsor this event, I could have bought a real nice boat for what it cost, but I can't take all ya'll fishing! LOL Thanks, Wilson

dont know anything about anyone rolling Friday.
I heard about a person doing something sunday.
mine was late Saturday night.

and BTW - Wilson - Well Put.
Where were all the racers?
Would've been a good show and more payout if you had more peeps. I'd a raced if I could afford to beat my truck and the money to enter.

Lots of things went wrong, never got the heep fixxed, much less turned a wrench on it. Just got too busy in the last weeks, would've loved to have made it out. Brothers front R&P took a shit shortly before the event also, he wasn't terribly interested in racing, but I was trying to get him into it.

Maybe next time.
Never done a race like this but Im damn anxious to try it out lol

Trust me us racers really appreciate sponsors, anyone that runs a business has my respect, and anyone that runs a business and gives money to sponsor an off road event gets all my respect. My main problem is as racers we didnt really know what the hell was going on during the whole event. As a sponsor you shouldnt have to worry about anything, you've already given youre hard earned money to the event, and to me thats enough. The fact that you made trophies is awesome, to me thats the event promomters/owners job. Also if you offer gift certificates, the promoter/owner should make sure us racers get them. I've never raced at an event when a sponser was in charge of giving out trophies and making sure racers get their prizes.

Out of the three years Ive raced at this event this was the most poorly organized and unless something changes I doubt we will be back.

Again we I really appreciate Wilsons as a sponsor and you guys should really give ECORS a try, might be money/time better spent. Thanks again

I was in the side by side that rolled. I heard he didnt even break it, just that it was cut so bad you could see the bone. And i have no clue if he found his shoe but I found my phone!

I wasn't there but it sounds to me like the main breakdown here is that it isn't clear who the actual "organizer" is specifically for the 4x4cross race, E.g. all those responsibilities kind of fell in between the people involved...?

Ha, Wilson, I figured you'd get a kick outta the wrench comment :beer:

Race Winners - the winners packages should be mailing out mon/teus

Anyway to all,

I think most of whats been said has covered the majority of everything, I'm not gonna keep going into it beating a dead horse.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows quite clearly (and probably knew before going into it) what needs to be done to make it go smoothly . . . .

Not worried about it at all, just another piece of the much grander puzzle ;)

Thats actually gonna be an interesting weekend, gotta be up at Harlan Kentucky Fri/Sat for the KOH qualifier, then Sat night gotta Jet down to Saluda, SC for the NTPA Sled Pull thing that Straight Diesels is doing, the NTPA does it on Sunday for some reason but w/e works I guess, allows me to be able to do both events that weekend . . . lotta driving in one night though

Gonna have to borrow my dads lil Ford Taurus to save on all the gas too that weekend, Mooresville, NC to Harlan, KY to Saluda, SC then back home, ha :driver:

Thanks Keith,

We didnt pay an entry fee like last year for the prizes, and when I asked another dude about it ( i think it was the dude inthe blazer that was on the rock pile???), he said that Wilsons had sponsored it and made a trophy for whoever the winner was. It was a free entry, trophy only for the winner deal. This was confirmed by Ricky the next day.

Hell yeah, I thought the trophys you made were pretty damn cool, so I was stoked to hear that I was winning one!!

Just shoot me a PM whenever you want me to swing by. We will work out something on the gift cert.

As a racer, thanks for your support/sponoring the events!

Rob
