Mid-engine Honda Buggy Build, FJ-40 axles

Like I have said before, the Honda Transaxle IS the transfer case/transmission all in one. There is no room to put a transfer case (unless it was under the passenger seat), plus, then I would have an output on the transmission not being used, AND it would be REALLY tough routing a driveshaft to the rear axle.

i have seen this work, with 3.55 gears and a auto trans it had more than enough gear it would only run 50mph in overdrive and had power to do a 4wd dounut. he turn it over and got out and turned back over him self with nobobys help ,i think thats cool. the rear ends gears 4.10ish + trans rear gear 3.90ish + first gear in trans 2.90ish = drive ratio

Why don't you run 4.10 in the axles that will help your top speed.

1st: Dash/windshield tubes in

2nd: Best I could do for an "X" brace to keep the tubes away from my head. More braces are still yet to be put in. Had to move the intercooler back some to make room for the tubes.

3rd: I'm am gonna have a parking brake no matter how tight of tolerances I have! HATED not having a park brake on my Tacoma when I did the 1-tons, so this one will have one designed in from the beginning!

this is a really cool build. I can't wait to see video of it finished... My friends and I used to sit around in high school and talk about making a honda powered buggy. You've really done your research from what I can tell and I think you'll be really happy with the results. GL!!! And a turbo!!!

IT ROLLS FINALLY!!!

Pulled it outside today and flexed it out to make sure nothing would bind on the front suspension. Panhard bar will need to have a slight bend in it, but that was expected. Panhard bar and tie-rod pictured are obviously not what will be used.

Looking good. Now get that thing running already!

Got some more done on it, well, this stuff has been done for awhile, just now getting around to posting pics since the origin of quickracer's thread :)

1st pic is the brake pedals, was going to do a hanging setup, but was able to squeeze them in as pictured, they fit pretty good. The winch will be mounted farther to the right so the brake pedal does not hit it.

2nd pics is the intercooler mounted

3rd pic is the rear suspension link mount, you can see in the other pictures and still on the other side of the buggy the way I did it originally. I did not like how they hung down so low, so I drilled a hole thru the frame, sleeved it, and mounted as pictured. And yes, it will be double shear when finished :)

As for power steering, I plan to use a LT1 pump since they are reverse rotation.

Engine is for sale now since my wife's car got totaled, going to put the engine out of her car in it with a 5 speed. Stock HP #'s will double (from 70 to 150), I still want to turbo it since I already have the turbo/intercooler but that will be a wait and see kind of thing. With the turbo it would easily be over 200hp, probably 225-250hp.
