monster 4runner

Thanks.

Several of us Carolina Trailblazers went to Uwharrie Saturday. The camera system is worth every penny that I paid for it...

I spoke with Ali today and it looks like it will be in the October or November issue of Peterson's 4Wheel and Off Road.

My engine has been modified to produce a lot more power and if I stay in it at wide-open-throttle, the exhaust gas temperatures will quickly jump to over 1500 deg. F. This can cause big problems with the turbo and pistons so, I decided that I needed some kind of safeguard.

I did a little research and found that Methanol/Water injection will drop the temps and can also add power. I found a good deal on the internet on a Snow Performance Methanol/Water Injection System and ordered it. It came in last week and last night I finished the installation. I have not ran methanol through it yet, but running straight water drops the EGTs about 200 degrees at wide-open-throttle.

This looks like it will be a pretty good addition...

Did I miss this picture somewhere? What's the story on this? Somehow made it to the "Win" thread on pirate...don't know why, looks more like a fail. :flipoff2:

It'll STILL out wheel a Jeep though.

Look back on page six of this thread and you can see what happened...
I drove out under my own power..... Win or lose, your call...

Brake rotor mounting bolts broke.

Dropped the 4Runner off at Vice Stitches and 4X4 this morning to have some work done on the front suspension. Tim is repositioning the front coilover mounts to give more up travel on the axle while keeping the same amount of lift. He is also reworking a couple of the link mounts and generally cleaning up some of the nagging little things on the front suspension.

Awesome pic! Never seen a vehicle operating with a tree up under it for a 4th wheel.

Are you still not done with this rig yet? You are making me feel better about taking so much time building mine!

Nothing is ever perfect, and everything can stand a little tweaking.... I will never finish a rig because there will always be something that it can't do.

Your rig had a TREE for a TIRE!!!! What else could you want it to do????

One of the top rigs that I've seen man. It's amazing what you have done with this. Awesome job.

Here are some photos of what I've been working on:
Up-travel was about 2.5" before hitting bump stops.

5.5" of up-travel after modifying the upper coilover mounts and bump stops, and adding dual rate kits. I also added a new set of lower link mount holes so that the anti-squat on the front axle is now about 100%:

Here are some pictures of the Snow Performance Methanol/Water Injection system installed...

So, after resetting the suspension the truck sits dead level. Both axles have 6" of up-travel before hitting the bump-stops. The pinion angles are set at 10-11 degrees. The wheelbase is now 130". Front antisquat is 100% and the rear antisquat is 110%.The bottom springs are rated at 400Lbs per inch and the tops are 325Lbs. Shocks are charged to 200PSI.

It drives well at speed, but I believe that I will be putting sway bars on it if I am goning to do much high speed running. Everything seems to work well in the woods behind the house. We'll see how well it does at Coal Creek next weekend.

hate you didn't make it last weekend. next time
Sorry that I missed it. Had some problems come up at home that prevented me from coming along. Family first...

Here are the early release copies of my rig's spread in the October issue of Peterson's 4 Wheel and Offroad Magazine...

There are a couple of typos in the article, but overall I am happy with it...
