As others here, I just never use cash except select personal transactions like CL. Even small stuff in stores I use a bank card or credit card to accumulate point, and keep cash out of my pocket.Do you get money (cash, paper, scrolls) from a tree in your backyard?
Exception - damn tolls on the highways here. I keep some small bills in the car just for that.
OK not to be an ass or get into your personal business - but paying cash for your rent is a terrible idea. It means you have no paper trail record of having paid it. I realize this is a temp thing for you and you've just ought a place up in NC so that's likely ending, but please don't encourage anyone to do this.I also hardly ever use cash except to buy stuff of CL or the marketplace but there are small things like getting a haircut every week = cash. I pay my rent in cash also and short of going to the ATM at the local bank (not USAA)they are the only ones who allow that big of a withdrawal so if I use another stand alone machine I get a fee every time I dip the card. It adds up but I seem to be over my reimbursement limit almost every month. Either way I’ll look into figuring it out.
There have been several nightmare cases around here of both (1) shady landlords claiming people hadn't been paying, when they had, and gettingg renters they didn't like for whatever reason kicked out b/c of claiming they didn't pay... ad winning due to lack of proof otherwise... and (2) cases of people (idiots IMO) getting scammed by a 3rd party *claiming* to be the landlord, who wasn't, who took cash payments for months before the real landlord forclosed on them. Again, no proof anything was even being paid or paper trail of who cashed he check.
