MOTD (Meme of the Day)

We use empty 2L bottles to make cooler ice and reuse them. Some are years old. Freeze them the first time with lid off.

These also keep a freezer cold a good while if the power goes out.

In a good rotomolded cooler they last a looonnngggg time.

I will make a few from bags to try.

that actually looks like my freezer a few days before I go camping without ice restocking capability. A big ole bag of frozen water lasts SO much longer than a bag of ice cubes

The nice thing about the bags, if you put the right amount in them, you can stack them on top of each other in the freezer. And they seem to fit better in the cooler, almost in the same space as the expensive Yeti ice packs. If you overfill the bag, they pop when froze.

If ya aint scared of frozen plastic boogie men horror stories...we also usually freeze half a case of water bottles. Adds cold mass. and also gives a sourceof a couple grabs uring a weekend to take on the trail and melt as the day goes on.

Yep do this every day for taking my lunch to work and every camping trip in the last 20 years.

1/2 or whole gallon Bojangles tea carton with frozen water depending on the cooler size. Also Gatorade bottles, all reusable.
