Mine would keep it for another 250Million years, expiration is a "recommendation"
I check the date on everything I pull out of the pantry or fridge if I know she didn't buy it in the last two weeks.

My grandma was like that. I know for a fact that most things won't hurt you years after expiration dates. After she got Alzheimer's my grandad made a game out of finding the oldest stuff he could in the pantry and giving all us grandkids some 15yr old grocery item along with a gift card for Christmas. It was a lot of fun to see what he could find.
