I walked out to check on my camper after church today. It appears someone else would like to have it. The old lock (top) didn't survive, but the Master Coupler Lock seemingly did its job well. I'm now trying to come up with an alarm like one used in a car. I don't think a motion sensor would work due to dogs & cats.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Run a cable through it that is looped to an alarm. When the wire gets cut the alarm goes off

Good thing they don't know that if you have 4-5 master lock keys, that the coupler lock can be unlocked faster than they cut the pad lock.

Only thing locks do is keep honest people honest is what I've always said. Chain the wheels together and lock the chains. Or maybe a wheel boot.

Put insurance on it and just let it be. It is cheap as crap on my hauler. If they want to take it, they will find a way.
Yeah mines like $60 a year or something.

Dig some of the gravel out on both sides of the tongue, set a few bear traps around the tongue and gently cover them w crush and run.
I thought about the bear traps as well. Be pretty cool to find a thief’s foot and ankle left in one. Twisted minds think alike.

With his pets around, this seems like not such a good idea.

I like the wheel boot idea.
Hell this costs about the same as a good lock.

Probably want 2 of them to prevent them from just taking off one wheel or something

I really would not advise using the bear traps. In this day and age the perp. would probably get a lawyer and sue the crap out of you for his injuries.

Put the jack on a pice of rubber and run a hog fence wire to it. Light his but up right there. I'd say hook a 120v line to it but I'd hate to kill your dog when he pees on your tire.

I absolutely love this one, but knowing me, I would be the one ending up knocked on his ass. :shaking: Don't have any pets so no concern there.

Where do you keep it? Might be time to move it somewhere else, if it's not at your house.

75 feet from house in plain sight of two neighbors.

I like that idea and plan to call and inquire about it. Good idea... appreciate it!

Bear traps out of the question for same reason as electric hog fence. I would probably be the absent minded old fool stepping in it. :shaking:

I am tinkering with something now that may serve the same purpose as the wheel boots. Chain going through wheels and around the axle.

I haven't gone back out to verify, but I believe the hitch is welded. Wouldn't want to go through that every time I moved it.

Also looking at a remote motion sensor alarm.

Lots of good ideas... appreciate y'all!:beer::beer:

@Granny just as a reference also, I think my trailer is insured for 10k, and it costs me 125 bucks a year. Mine sits in the back yard and somebody would have to go into the yard to get it, so I doubt anybody would take mine, but still worth it to me.

Do you have a monitored alarm system on your house?
ADT/CPI/ etc?

If so Ive got a few neat tricks that cost...like $10 that are darn near fool proof.

There are literally hundred of ways to do it.
Anything from old school surface mount window switches by the catch or on the axle...pressure pads under the tire. Photobeam just in front of the tire. Plunger button on the lasp...

just a matter of what you have for a panel and yoru physical layuout....all those components are dirt cheap
