In light of the Big Daddy event cancellation. I'd like to put previous plans I had started working on back into motion. Previous plans were being setup to address the exact problem BDOR had.. Someone else deciding to close the gates..

The goals are....

1) Create a NON-PROFIT 4x4 swap meet event - Gate fees will be kept as low as possible to cover expenses. Your gate fees go to covering cost for the event itself. Extra money will be used to prepay for future events with extra money donated To the Susan G. Koman (www.komen.org).

2) This will be an ALL CLUBS event - No club affiliation needed to either attend or help out. Helping at the event will be strictly volunteer based. Ideally local clubs will supply 2-3 members to volunteer at the event. In return for supply volunteers clubs will be give extra space to setup a club table/booth/ or tent etc..

3) Keep the event simple and sustainable. People need a regular reoccurring event that can be planned on. Past events have always been great opportunities for buyers and sellers..

4) HAVE FUN !!

Planning - To get things started, I'd like to form a small planning committee of INTERESTED people who WANT to help make this happen.

One goal will be to get something going for this fall. ~October ish.. With possibly pre-planning for Early/Mid spring of 2008. Locations will be reviewed, discussed and selected. Please contact me directly if you want to be considered for the committee..

My goal in creating the committee will be to create a diverse group that can work well together and reflects the interests of ALL 4x4 in NC. Not simply based on club or web site membership... If you have any background in this or smiler event type planning please indicate such.

Clubs - If clubs are interested in participating, please select 1 POC (Point of Contact) and start preparing a list of volunteers and contact information.

Don't know if you have somewhere in mind..you could probably do this at DPG..it's fairly central and we could probably set up a little comp of some sort if there was interest. I ,however don't want to be on a committee.

Can DPG handle a crowd?

The 4wd community is quite large in NC when you consider all the diverse rigs, clubs and prefences (mild, extreme, mud, rocks, mall).
I would imagine an event like this would pull from surrounding states also.

Just thinking on the keyboard.

DPG can handle quiet a big crowd, as it has demonstrated in the past. I have seen large numbers there, and never even close to capacity.

I would like to hear a little more info about what your looking for on commitee members, I work in a printing and graphics shop and possibly could help some on that end. Also, I'm huge into direct mail marketing, if thats something your thinking about. I've got my own 82 toy and am starting my own small business that is 4x4 related.

Let me know

I really hated to use the work committee as it give the impression of lots of talk and discussion and poll taking..

In reality a committee member would need to be mature and act professional. Ideally having been to a larger organized swap meet would help. Initially everyone would meet in person then again as needed.

Functions - You might have to contact vendors, advertisers, call retailers, make contact with other web forums, etc.. You would need to be comfortable speaking and acting on behalf of the event.

Location - There are many locations that will be considered. Part of which would be to make initial contact and have discussions about the event. Each location will have many factors that will be considered when a final decision is made.

Please feel free to contribute new suggestions. Any contact information would also be helpful. Simply adding your vote for a location is not how a location will be selected.

funny you post that yager, my club was comming up with an idea very simular, we have been working on it for a while. and well we have a few vendors and ideas all ready.

who do I need to get in contact with to see if we are on the same page?

hey lauren i was just getting ready to post that. i will talk to DC4wd and i also have a location in mind to. i have to go talk to the owners and see if they are ok with it and maybe we could throw a few dollars at them

Bryan, john l, and I was at bryans house last night, and that was the big topic of the night. we have contacts with rusty's, northridge, and some more on the paper, which I do not have with me. If intrested I can be a contact for VEX, or on the commintee depending on location and time frame

I have been on a slight nap from the 4 wheeling world for a few years but work as a project coordinator for a large electrical firm. Deal with vendors all day long and would be glad to help. Pm;d you my #
