First of all I'm 18 not going to collage and was a slack @$$ in school
On the posters childs note
- In elementry school I was labeled with a learning disabilty in writing. From there I was takin' out of class one or two days a week and set in a classroom with peers of the same nature. I do belive it worked well but not as well as intended. But then again I was a slack @$$. If her situation warrents it and from what I have read it doesn't sound like but just tossing an idea in the air. (ohh and just to put it out there I was AG in all subjects other than writing, which kept me out of the AG program)
- In middle school 7th grade I had one of the "night-mare" teachers, she was awful. She did not teach the class at all, she honestly took "slide shows" from other teachers and the web and had us copy them. (we knew b/c we went through other notes from kids in our school and searched the internet) She also told us one day in class "The book can teach you better then I can." Not sure if this was just pure laziness or incompatance, never-the-less, horrible teacher. Her behavior methods were horrible too. Our science rooms had a "storage closet" which she sat kids in, in the dark for the entire class. Many of the parents got involved and needless to say she did not finish out the year for "medical reasons." (she was spotted working at a nail saloon down the road) So if your child has a teacher like this, I would say complain so other students/parents don't have to deal with it.
Basically what I am trying to say is there are programs within the school that the active student and parent can take advantage of. But the parent must voice a consern to the right person. Which in my case was my consular (SP?). And in my hosnest opion, when it is time for her to move to middle school and high school, go to the local schools and see how there programs are set up. And all of the programs not just the teaching. (ex Admin, student services, disapline)
On Kids not taking responabilty for there actions
-In my younger days I was not punished firmly so I took advantage of every situation that I could. So I recomned (not being a parent and being a child myself) go through with what ever you say ALL OF THE TIME if you show that the/your child that they can get away with it once they will try, try agian. Eg. I faild 5th grade no doubt about it. I earned all U's or F's what ever they were called, but since I was a good kid I was promoted to the next grade. That was a BAD idea, it thought me I could do bare minimum and still succeed.
Nothing like putting all of my dirty laundry out there
