i was looking at the general statutes for the state of nc and had an idea...
http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/ByChapter/Chapter_20.html

if you look at 20-79.4 you will see the section on registering for diffrent license plates of organizations. one of them is the "Rocky Mtn. Elk Foundation", and i am good friends with the man who created that foundation. He said in order to start one, and get the license plate design, you had to have a certain number of people apply for that plate. if you have 300 (i think, not 100% sure on this number) than you can get the design approved by the DMV and they will create the plates.
the fee is somthing like 25$. so basically, we could design a 4x4 plate, and get 300 people to want it and it should get appoved.
so my question is how many people would be interested in gettin a license plate of some sort of 4x4 theme? the way the numbers on them go is sequentially starting at #00001 and up in order of when you apply

im not talking only about a nc4x4.com type club, it could just be a south east 4x4 or somthing else. i think nc4x4 would be a good idea, but it would probably be up to the mods on this forum on that. (any input from yall?)

how many people would want to pay the 25$ ish and get to have a 4x4 club type of plate?

im goin to the DMV tommorow anyway to get my bike permit so ill ask them details on starting a "foundation" and what all the rules are in starting an org. and getting the OK from them.

Id be in. And since they are NC tags, I think NC4x4 would be as good as anything.

no thanks. I dont want every dumb inbred with a big ol' mud truck running around with an nc4x4 license plate. Not saying anyone on nc4x4 is  but you know once billy-bob and his cousin john-boy saw a plate with 4x4 on it they would have to get one to put on their body lifted, lift block havin gumbo mudder'd up turd.

that was my only concern, but then again i still like the idea... who else?

Couldn't be worse than the :gay: "Shag dancing" plate I saw yesterday...

My K5, Burb, and Sami all would like one of these plates.

I hope this works out, or else I'll have to get one of those Shag Dancing plates now that Rich let me know they exist!

Kidding!!!

I woul dbe up for a General 4x4 plate.. but I would also be afraid what a nc4x4 plate would do and how many people would be hitting the site.. I sure would put us in the public view

We tried doing something like this in VA. 300 PREPAID - then it goes for approval. They tried sending the 900 plus people who signed an online form saying that they would pay for it if it were approved. Havent heard anything from that... but hopefully NC is diffirent... and would be down for one if it weren't to "gay".

Is there a North Carolina 4 wheel drive association?

im down, keep everyone posted on that one. i know of a few who would also be down with that.

You can't just have the people sign up. You have to get the General Assembly to authorize the plate in the statutes. THEN when 300 people sign up for it they will start actually making the plates.

You want to do this, you need to talk to your state representative or senator about introducing a bill. However, the bill introduction deadline for this year has already passed & the bill will not be eligible next year in the short session. But if you get a member "on board" s/he can probably find something to tack it onto this year.

You prob would be better off trying to get a SFWDA, UFWDA, Blue Ribbon, or TREAD LIGHTLY as a plate you could actually get 300 signed up for....

I doubt there are 300 members in the state of those organizations tho? (Although there should be...I know I am SFWDA/UFWDA via CTBlazers... and those org are members of tread lightly and maybe the blue ribbon folks?)

From a paper in Wilmington... lung cancer I believe?

"but must sell at least 300 before the state will make them. Otherwise the cost of making the plates could outweigh what it will earn."

"Groups also must find a state legislator willing to back them; some say that requirement will prevent controversial groups from showing up on plates."

I think you have to have my permission to use nc4x4.com also. :burnout: :fuck-you:

What is it with you and these minor details? Killjoy.......:flipoff2:
