NC4x4 Stimulus Recycle Day 5/28/11

I am fairly ignorant when it comes to scrapping so this may be a dumb question.

My old trailer axles are still partially assembled meaning the the brake shoes are still installed on one and the bearings are still in the floater axle. Can I bring them like that or do I need to take some stuff off of them?

Question.....i didnt see brass on the metals list(or i missed it). Are you taking scrap brass? Mostly check valves/boiler relief vavles and heat exchangers.
yes i can buy any type of brass, yellow red, irony

you can bring them as is. as long as we can weigh them in some fashion, i have 450 lb mobile scales, if we scale out i can weigh again at my shop upon return and get you the difference.

thanks guys, looking forward to meeting you all.

I am thinking about riding up there, but I have a few questions...

How much are you paying for:

Brass, clean, but has some teflon tape on threads-considered clean where I normally take it

Copper, clean #1 (not shiny)
copper, clean #2 (solder joints)

Aluminum, painted

Stainless steel

steel (not planning on bringing much steel, I have alot, but it's easier to just take it to a place a couple miles from the house)

I have probably $500+ worth of scrap, so bring your wallet :D

That is definitely worth the trip! We'll be there by 10:00 or 10:30 and looking forward to it!

#1-$3.50; #2-$3.35; yellow brass-#2.08; painted siding-.68; sheet alum-.60; s.steel-$1.00; steel- $11.00 per hundred pound. Batteries $12.50 on car size and best pricing and grade on catalytic converters. Bringing more than my wallet--$$$$.

Hot dogs and BBQ will be ready in about hour. The sun is starting to show and will be a nice day for this event!!

yes it was a great day to get together! thanks brandon for having us, and terry the hot dog guru with his trusty sidekick snappy; appreciate you guys helping us get all the scrap loaded. it was great meeting everyone and i hope all were pleased with their bounty. i hope to do this again soon.:driver:

Thanks Brandon for the spot and the hospitality! Glad everyone came by, seen some old friends and had time today to visit thanks to Snappy handling the tongs! Matt and his family are TOP SHELF in my opinion. Please support them in the future as they are one of us! Hope to do this again some where! I'll settle with you soon Matt! Met a great puppy today also! And thanks to all that came!

$410 here! And spent most of it b4 i left Rides.
Matt is the man.

Anyone that has some scrap needs to come to one of these. Matt's little assistant, Carter, is the funniest help I have ever seen!! "Hey hotdog man" followed by the best call outs of Terry is classic.

Wanted to come down too but had a meet that morning then got caught up in that chemical plant fire in hudson. Hate that I missed it.

So this is an old thread, any idea if you guys are going to do this again? Holidays are comming up and could use a little cash for my junk. There is plenty of recycling yards around, would rather use 4x4 community.

schedule is pretty full for the holidays but i will see what i can get planned for january. i come through your area weekly on my regular route, and would be happy to meet up to get you the extra$$ for the holidays. there are a number of members i see periodically on my route and would be happy to hook up and get you taken care of. Give me a call tomorrow and we'll see what we can line up, and thanks for keeping the business in NC4x4!
