Need some good thoughts

Talked to mom a bit ago. They put in a stint. Dad is stable. If all goes okay he should be leaving the hospital tomorrow afternoon. They are already scheduling him for surgery in about 2.5-3weeks to go back in for 3 more stints. He is averaging 80-90% blockages. It blows my mind cause he has been active his whole life and has never been over weight. He hasn’t drank or smoked since I’ve been alive (44 yrs). Especially in the last 10 yrs or so he has been even more conscious about eating right and exercising. I guess I say that to say get your blood panels done. Make an appt, talk to your doc!!

I’m also happy to say that I still have my father tonight.

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers. Please keep the good vibes rolling as it’s just the start on the path ahead.

Look up a coronary calcium scan. They do a CT of your heart and lungs, pay out of pocket, they'll tell you exactly what is going on, if anything. Blood work is only one indicator. It's like trying to find out the condition of your rings from the dirt in the oil filter.

My sister got a flight out yesterday afternoon. She is there and dad was awake last night. Then headed to bed. Kirsten said he was in good spirits.

X10. Yes, definitely ask your doctor for this!

You do have to pay out of pocket with most insurance. But it's cheap -- I paid $99 a couple of years ago at Durham Diagnostic Imaging. Get your doc to send you to one of those independent radiology labs, not a hospital or corporate one.

It's not perfect -- you can have non-calcified plaque and still be at risk of heart disease, but it gives you a good insight into your risk factor.

prayers sent, glad he is doing better.

Just got off the phone. He is getting sent home. Nexts steps are seeing how his numbers progress. Everything now is good. They are due to fly back to Michigan on April 16th but not sure if that’s a possibility. When they have to go back in for his surgery he would like to be in Michigan as it is “home”. Gotta figure that out. He was excited cause mom got him an oatmeal raisin cookie from the hospital cafeteria. (They are his favorite). Hearing my dads voice had a new meaning just now.

Thank you all for your support. You’re good people no matter what others may think lol.

Great advice and pertinent.
As 50 nears and a family supposed history of heart issue I’ve been looking into the same. Can’t find a local place that offers- looks like I’m headed to charlotte or Atlanta

you can get a Kardiamobile flex card will pay. I was in Afib 40% of the time.

I had heart ablation on Nov 17th 2025. That thing probably saved me from a stroke.

Back to the thread, sorry for the interruption.
