...so, what case/protector do I need to get for an iPhone 4s?

Otterbox? Which one? Something better (for less)?

Take it back and get a Droid. Nexus or Razr.

Naw, I'm supporting more Iphones than droids...needed hands-on to learn more....got droid on my tablet, so I have a handle on it. I get maybe 2 clients a week wanting me to help them with phone and tablet stuff. Good money.

I would say lifeproof also if you want the best stronger case.

I don't use any case, and just use applecare. Gets me a new phone for cheaper than a case. I did use a bumper for a while. If I had kids though I would have a lifeproof case so they don't mess it up.

yup with a 2 and 4 year old they can grab my phone all day and I do not care :) the waterproof, shock, etc are all just extra benefits..

Well... that makes sense... my impression after a couple of hours on an iPhone was that they were a PITA to use compared to Android. That's where my recommendation was coming from.

I have an OtterBox for my Galaxy Nexus. Love it. Only downside is it makes an already big phone really big. It dosn't make it completely watertight but its definitely rain/moisture resistant and toddler proof.

I prefer otterbox defender or commuter. I bought a lifeproof, but took it back since none of my car chargers/cables would plug in. I like the otterbox warranty too.

I've had practically every case, from cheap eBay ones to the Otterbox and the LifeProof. While the LifeProof is the most expensive and does require an adapter for almost every car charger, the case is the best there is IMO. It doesn't collect dirt or lent in your pocket, isn't that big or heavy, and is damn near indestructible. And if you do break it, then they'll replace it for free. LifeProof gets my vote.

We bought an otterboc defender for the wife's iphone. Since it's going in a purse and not a pocket the bulkiness isn't a problem. The otterbox just seemed like it'd be more shock resistant than the lifeproof to me.

Happy with my Otter box. I've used the warranty for a broke clip and they asked no questions.

I also have an Otter Box on a droid. Bulky but tough as nails. I was driving the Cruiser around town and had the phone in the dumb little console thingy beneath the radio. Whipped out of a gas station and about the time I hit second gear I saw my phone fly out of the rig, hit the asphalt at 20mph, skip, and land on the sidewalk. I parked on the sidewalk and ran back grabbed it and it was good as new. Got my vote.

Had an otter-box on my 4s and forgot my phone was in my pocket while I was doing something under my truck rolled over and heard the phone crack. It spider webbed the whole phone. I have the apple insurance just haven't had much time to go replace my phone. I will be buying one of the good cases this time otter box is over rated

LifeProof is great but a slightly cheaper alternative is the Griffin case. Two friends have that case and the phone and case has survived horses stepping on them, drops from 20', etc.

I got the otterbox today. Lifeproof is great, but the connector limitation killed me...I've been using an ipod, and all the car connectors I have installed would be too bulky for that case. (Thanks for the heads-up on that). We'll see how it goes. I got the insurance...I've been using a Samsung Convoy (dumbphone)...it's the first phone that's made it the whole two-year contract for me...I'll be hard on a smartphone.

probably 10 minutes too late but the otterbox defender on amazon can be had for $25
