While I agree 100% w/ this one, I can't see how in the world to enforce it. unless it alos become illegal to dial a phone, look up a number, navigate a GPS, read email, call up MP3s... how could anyone actually know that's what you were doing?
i use 1 device for all of these now, it's all in my phone.

Next time you see a cop car, look where his eyes are. 3/4ths of the time, they're staring at their computer, furtively checking traffic out of the corner of their eyes.
 
Most of them that I see are talking on their cell phones.
 
it's all phone use as of dec. 1st. and yeah cops are always on alert to everything around them. they are dispatched on the computers, have maps on the computers, and run tags on the computers too so they do have to look at them.

technology is a great thing that has come along and distracted many drivers, causing crashes and makes the public think the "cops" have nothing better to do than look at their computer screen or talk on the phone. trust me, there are much better things to be doing, but the public dosen't allow for those things to be done due to their never ending wants or gripes....or complaints!

I'm surprised nobody's come up with a HUD that prints out on patrol car screens. Heck, the next generation should combine that functionality with AR (augmented reality) data display. It runs the plate and puts out the name, address, warrants, etc. all inline with the view of the road.
