Definitely. He's only 5 but sometimes I don't give him enough credit. I'm amazed at how well he can read the instructions and know where things go. Even on the Technic builds which, IMO, are more difficult.
 
Conversation went probably the same way it goes around my house:
"Hey dear! Want summa deez nuts?"

I shake my nuts and if they're in earshot they'll be here soon. I've been feeding them corn for a few years. I scoop up a few lbs. out of a 40 lb. bag in a zip lock bowl and stir and scoop the corn as toss it in the yard, They can hear the stirring and the corn hitting the ground and it sounds like the peanuts, sometimes they come running up to the deck.
