This sucks.
I picked up my new (to me) bike today:bling: but im stuck at work.
The bike is a 2002 Yellow and Black suzuki GSX-R 750 with 2 bros racing exaust, a yellow crome windscreen, and dog bone to lower it 3"
This is def going to make for a long 8 hours. Sitting here looking at my "new" bike and not being able to ride it:( :kaioken:

a lowered sportbike? How long till you take that abortion of a suspension linkage off?

Very cool sounding bike other than that...

Or, are you going for the look:

haha no just what it came with... I like it... for now atleast... it makes it so I'm flat foot
Plus you really can't notice it

Dude. Please get some stock links. People with lowered sportbikes make me cry. I can barely get one foot down tip-toe on either of my streetbikes, but I can actually lean it (and stand a chance of making it if I get into a corner too hot).

Pics? Ever ridden before? Taken the safety class at Wake Tech or Johnston Tech? Just wondering, a GXSR 750 is a pretty big bike if its your first. Is it at your house? I'd like to come by and look at it when I'm over that way.

Zack

No pics... no batterys. Yeah its my first bike and yeah its kinda big.. Yeah give me a call if you wanna stop by 740-1693

be careful... that's ALOT of bike to start out with. it'll take you years to ride it to its full potential. i would def. reccomend a msc if you haven't already taken one.

also, def. ditch that lowering kit. that's almost as bad as an extended swing arm. at least they have somewhat of a function though.

yea, might have tried to start a little smaller, 750 is a bit much, and I dont even ride.

BUT, at least it looks better then a Ninja 250 hahaha :fuck-you:

yeah since the kat is out of the bag... I'm going to keep it lowered for a little while.. untill I get somewhat used to riding. On the power note... I can already tell how much power it was... and that 1/4 throttle going up and down my street (1/4 mile high populated and im sure the neighboors loved it)

First bike? yikes.

Take the MSF course pronto.. There's a wait list, so sign up NOW. It might be the only thing that saves your life.

My first street bike was an 86 ninja 900 (in 86)....ride it like you got some sense and you'll be fine, You can get killed on a 250 if you don't know what you're doing. I do hope if you haven't taken some sort of riding/safety course , you at least have some prior dirt bike experience or something.

My standard advice to all new (and old) bikers: Fill out a donor card.

No offense, I tell this to everybody.

my dad teaches the safety class at wake tech, get signed up NOW, because just like what Rich said, there is a huuge wait. Its not too expensive and it takes a full weekend to do. I took it last year in April.

Then don't just mention it in a motorcycle thread :shaking: .. EVERYONE (imo) should be a donor.

When you get your MC endorsement added to your license it's a great time, cause you just tipped the odds in your favor of being able to cash it in.
They can have my organs when they pry them from my cold dead body.

ermm
wait.
yea, I guess that's the point?
But I definitely agree, take the safety course, get some other riders to give pointers. And remember, when on a bike, you are 100% invisible to ALL soccer moms in ginormous SUV's.
Actually worse, you are taunting their subconscious mind to hit you.

But good luck, congrats on the new bike, and just remember to respect it. It will go MUCH faster than you can survive.
(even if it has a lowering kit)

I'm going to keep it lowered for a little while.. untill I get somewhat used to riding
removing it will allow you to learn the proper way to ride. especially cornering.

I would advise you go to ahead and sign up for that class man, just learning the basic RIGHT techniques of riding would make a world of difference. Waiting a couple of weeks to ride the bike would be a whole lot better than highsiding it and putting you in the hospital..I'll give ya a call sometime this week to come by and look at it:beer:

i've got lots of nasty pics of myself if you want some shock factor to be careful.:flipoff2:

this is stupid... thats a fine bike... its lowered so he can be flat footed, more important then "leaning the corners" ... and just cause he hasnt taken a motorcycle class and his big heavy streetbike means he is gonna get hurt? i love all the ASSumptions... yah, you, put that in there. i ride a 1000, never went to a class and still yet never have gotten in a wreck, ticket, any accident at all... hope you enjoy your bike man, we ride in wilmington alot. you should come ride this summer

nobody's being an ass here,I just don't want to see 19yrold kid(or however old you are) killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Not saying he is a bad rider, its just that that big of a bike leaves little room for error. My dad had a GL1500, never had any problems, never dropped it, no wrecks, until a lady swerved in front of him. Both of my parents were unhurt largely due to the MSC class that my dad has taken and teaches. Just my .02 cents. I'll give ya a call later this week to come by and look at it.

you're an idiot. learning with a lowering kit just so he can be flat footed, then removing it later, will be completely relearning the bike. removing it NOW will promote learning proper riding technique, not pussy footing around corners keeping the pegs out of the asphalt.

just because you personally ride a liter bike and haven't had any problems doesn't make it smart. besides the safety factor, no one has any business starting out on a liter machine from a riding standpoint. you won't even begin to touch the potential of it for YEARS if you ever do. throw in the fact other drivers pay you no mind, and your chances drop even further. riding isn't a matter of if you go down, it's when.

there are no ASSumptions in this thread. only good advice. the facts and statistics on sportbikes and young riders are out there, plain and simple. hell, i am one.

Good advice from Rufus, I'd just like to add that the performance potential of modern sportbikes is so huge that these bike should never be ridden anywhere near their full potential on public roads...no matter how good you are.

trust me on this.
