neXtJeep Build Thread

In a few days you can get the HF Apex 12K winch with synthetic line for $360. Yeah, yeah, I know it's Chinese but it is a heck of a winch at what will be a great deal. I believe it will be the Dec 19th 12 days of xmas deal.
I already have a HF Badlands 9500 sitting in a box right next to the jeep, but it just feels like defiling it by putting something modern and cheap on there.

I have never owned a superwinch, but I have a regular wheelin buddy that just replaced his with a Warn. Every time he had to use that SW, it would shit the bed. It was slow, seriously lacked power, and was constantly hitting the duty cycle and cutting off. It's not really fair to make a generalization about them based on the performance of one unit...but I can confidently say I will never put one on a vehicle that might actually see winch usage.

Having said that, history suggests that the neXtJeep may spend it's entire life in a cushy heated/cooled shop. So #runwhatyoubrung

Either they lost a bet or were toaster strudel'ed...
Regardless, glad to see you took advantage just the same 🤣

Got it to go on the '86 Quigley Ramsey Family van.......

Plus I got a buddy that tells me "You're slow, and you ain't that good" so it will fit in perfectly 😬

That’s what I thought.
The only adapters I see for 6x5.5 to 5x4.5 are 2" thick. He is running 1.25 spacers right now. If he gets one of the rodeo d44 that are 58" wide (mid 90s) he would be about the same.

Early-mid 90s isuzu 44 is the standard 8.5" ring, 4.10's, many had a limited slip (g80 on the firewall vin plate) and discs. I have one in the back of my trooper with 5.38s and a detroit. The later 90s models after the redesign had the bigger 8.9" ring and girthier pinion. The later 4 cyl models would have a drum brake 44 with deeper gears (4.77s), so if you are after 4.10's, look for discs.

Still haven’t done anything with the axles. Ordered sliders the week after the not-NC4x4 and they still haven’t showed up (they did say 6-8 week lead time). I did start wiring up the winch a month ago, and the cover was hanging on by the control wires and I bumped it and it fell and ripped them loose. Finally conquered that project today and was pleased to see that the winch actually works. :D So now it has a working winch for the first time ever 👍

Next on the list is new tires, as the 2002 dated MTRs are finally started to show a little cracking at the base of the tread blocks. Gonna go with the Cooper Rugged Treks in 265/70r16 variety. The set I had on my Ram 1500 was great on road, but had a really open tread pattern that cleared out much better than other all terrains I’d had.
