For Duke energy, I actually work in maintenance but with budget cuts and everything else they want us all to be able to do the basics of any job so I’m currently in operations and having to work their schedule. Having the 7 day break is the only good thing about this schedule and then you hate life for the next 3 weeks until a 7 day break again.

Pretty much. Lol.

Most maintenance here works days 6:30-3:00, but there’s a small crew of us that work the same shift schedule as operations for around the clock support.

Ah. Sounds like you fell victim to the “resource sharing” initiative over the last couple years. We had that up at ROX and MAY and for the capital projects, it was a shit show. Hopefully it’s gotten better?
 
I think i fit in between a morning person and a night owl. I don't have a problem getting up early and getting to work, but i can sleep in till 8. How early i need to be up determines when i want to go to bed. I want to be in bed 7 hrs if possible.

I've worked early most of my career and I've always left the house within 10 min of my feet hitting the floor. My job can pay me to take a dump when i get there.

Things are changing with the new job though, so we'll see how my sleep habits change.

I feel like that’s the way we’re headed in the end. I like my job but not enough to stay on swing shift haha

it hasn’t been terrible yet since I’ve stayed at Marshall this whole time but having to work in operations and on swing shift has been rough. It was suppose to be a 6 month tour then my second week out here they added another 2 months to it. I’m just ready to be back doing my normal job.

Same. I gotta make coffee and work up a turd before shit else happens.

I'm pretty consistent at 45 min from opening of eyes to out the doe.

I'm blessed with a wife that can do 1:10 from waking to ready for church 🤘🏼

I use to be 15 min ready but after 40 I know what has to take place 😂

I used to hit the floor running. Alarm clock might beep twice and I was up and out the door. I’m like you now. I give myself at least 45 to get out of the house now. I’m a habitual snooze slapper nowadays as well.

Usually ate breakfast out the first day, then made a grocery store trip and cooked meals for the rest of the cycle. Of course sometimes we'd miss a cooked meal and eat out, or sometimes we just didn't feel like cooking or had a busy cycle planned and ate out for every meal.

I have stuff in the fridge at work for breakfast, snacks in my desk drawer (restocked as needed when the wife's gets groceries), and take leftovers for lunch most days.
 
After high school and getting into the real world I became semi-early-bird-ish.
After crotch goblin #1 came along, I got little worse ..... #2 made me full blown Early Bird.
I needed a bit of quiet time to get some things done 2-3 days out of the week.
With kids around .... early morning was my best bet while everyone was asleep.
Even though I haven't worked in almost 2 years because of the Post Covid issues, I still get up around 5AM every day.

Found a keeper there! My wife and I are both retired military but I got another job after the army. I’m up (begrudgingly) at 4:45 get the boy dogs situated outside, make a quick breakfast that I eat on the way to work and also pack a lunch (usually leftovers) that I warm up at work in between a turn with my truck when I bring a load in to the plant. She sleeps till about 7:45-8 then gets up and gets the rest of the dogs squared for the day and goes about farm business. With the extra daylight I’m doing chores and farm projects after I get home from work and we are both usually in bed by 10pm

I did. My wife spoils me by doing an amazing job taking care of our family, and I try my best to make sure they need nothing and want for as little as possible.
 
Night owl, I hate waking up early unless it's to go wheeling.
 
Tonight am I a night owl or early bird? Fell asleep in my chair last nite, went to bed at 9:45, woke up to pee at 2:44 and here I am wide awake! I hate this crap! I'll be up the rest of the night now and then after coffee and food I'll start to crash but won't go back down because I got stuff to do.

I eat at work. Boss man has a little store table in the lobby and I get my second dose of dew and a roll of doughnuts to start the day. When I'm on the road, I just grab another dew and a snack cake or leftovers or something.
