ECORS is proud to announce its return to Harlan, KY for the series finale! Harlan offers a vast array of opportunities for course design and has the facilities offer challenging courses for all classes.
Expect this event to offer longer courses for each class as well as longer race times (up to 8 hours); a true endurance race to truely test man and machine!
Schedule:
Thursday/Friday: On site registration and Pre-run. Keep in mind, this park is open to the public so please use caution as this facility has multiple guests and trail users that may wander on course! Keep speeds to a minimum and be safe!
Friday evening: Qualifying for start position. Qualifying will start at 3pm.
Saturday: Race day for all classes. This will be done differently for all classes than what we have done in the past!
10am: green flag drop for Class B and C
Noon: green flag for Class A, AA, and U
6pm: race ends for all classes.
Thursday at lunch time registration will open up. ECORS will be set up at the Verda Fields, just outside the town limits of Evarts, KY. Teams must register on site upon arrival to receive course and event information.
The Verda Fields will be the home of operations for the event and will be the site of Friday night qualifying. Camping in the fields is open to all racers and their teams for normal camping rates charged by the Park. The Verda Fields will be the site for the Main Pits and operations.
Qualifying: Each racer will have an opportunity to run up to 2 laps on the Verda Field course for qualifying. We will start qualifying at 3pm and is on a first come first serve basis. We will count your best time towards consideration for start position. Everyone is required to qualify or face being penalized the 25 participation points for ECORS members and/or starting in the back of the pack Saturday.
Pits: The Verda Fields will be the home of ECORS operations and main pits. It will also serve as a camping area for teams as well as the "start" line for the race. We will have a couple of Remote Pits located through the course. For pitting during the race, racers must use these "remote" pits only. These areas will be marked with signage so you know you are inside the remote pit boundary. Anyone on your team or another racer's team can assist in the Remote Pits. Pitting outside of the designated pit areas will not be allowed.
Course: The course will entail multiple trails and obstacles through the park. Because we are limited to use of existing trails, we will have monitored trail crossing areas to manage spectator/rider traffic with race traffic. We will have various checkpoints set up at ransom places through the course to monitor traffic and adherence to the course. It is highly recommended to utilize a GPS or other tracking device for monitoring course compliance and consistency. Each class will be required to complete a set number of laps; Class B and C will have 8 hours to make all laps while Classes A, AA, and U will have 6 hours to complete their laps.
Start and Finish Lines: The Start line will be located at the Verda Fields. Because you will be traveling on the roads to access the course, you will be REQUIRED to monitor speeds and obey all speed and safety laws. These will be highly monitored and any non-conformance will be grounds for immediate DQ (i.e., we will not wait until the end of the race to hash it out!). The finish line will be located on the mountain. Specific course and map info will be provided upon your registration on site.
Registration: Registration will open up very soon. We will collect all entry fees on site and will not have a pre-pay option online. This will help to reduce any pay/no pay confusion experienced with new teams unfamiliar with the registration process. Teams will be required to pay entry fees for each vehicle and each class they wish to enter. During registration, teams will be required to buy "Team" armbands. This will identify your Team from spectators and will allow them to enter pit areas for support and assistance during the race.
Park trail fees: Park trail fees are independent of any race entry or team registration. Racers are required to purchase and obtain a trail use pass for every vehicle they wish to utilize on the Park trails. This includes race and pit vehicles. Any "rider" or "spectator" fees are also in addition to any registration fees to ECORS. Registration fees ONLY cover race entry and does not cover any other trail use fees, camping fees, etc. While registering and paying entry fees obtains you the opportunity to race, it does not grant you permission to enter the park.
Tech Inspection: Tech inspection will be at Verda Fields and will start Friday morning at 9am and will end Friday evening at 6pm. Any inspection outside of that time frame will be assessed with a late inspection fee of $50. Please have all safety gear and land use pass present during Inspection.
Camping: Camping is available throughout the Park and surrounding areas. Racers and their team members will be able to camp and set up main pits at the Verda Fields for normal park rates. Please contact the Park for camping and cabin information.
