Official 4x4cross Jamboree May 22nd-24th

I'm thinking about entering, will be last minute with my latest toy driven buggy, just wanted to know if small stock 4 cyl vehicles have a chance in the class..D. category?or should i just be a spectator?

IDK, its up to you, but im pretty sure some of the buggies last year were 4/6 cylinder powered, if your light and nimble it will definitely be a plus, the course is designed so that there aren't many straightaways so a V8 isn't necessarily gonna pull away real easy. I'd definitely say maneuverability would be a better advantage than strait power.

Its not the size of the moter it the size of the foot on the skinny peddle that counts.

well if that's the case my size 16 should be able to win in a metro :driver:

Guys and girls - Sign up!

This is gonna be one awesome event.

I'm heading out this weekend with Ricky and hopefully Dylan can make it, to take some pics and video of the course.
I'll post up the video and pics soon after. I know this is brand new track and nobody is gonna know whats up with it until the April 11th Prerun.
That way you guys know more of what you're dealing with.

Lets go Racin! "boogity boogity boogity"

:driver::driver::driver:

Heck yea, see if we can't get an exact overall distance measurement on the track too, I know some of ya'll we're interested in that :driver:

yeah that'd be me

Aight guys, the track is 1.7 miles, I ran it in 6:48 on an atv, but I suck, one of the local guys that has a pretty hopped up atv that knows how to ride ran it in 4:18. Granted we didn't go over some of the obstacles you all will have to but that gives you an idea, we'll have some pics of the track and a ride along vid on the website here shortly.

Yeah, the track is looking great. I got to see it on Sunday and there has been a ton of time and work put into this track. I think it will be a great place to race. It will be a technical type of track, one where a 4 banger can compete with a v8. Lots of bumps, jumps, and obsticals that will keep the skinny pedal in check. Sure you can hammer on it, but you will have to get on the brakes, in just a short distance.

I guess that depends on number of entries. But Ricky will have to answer that for sure.
If there are lots of entries I see one lap. Because of time and trying to run two trucks on the course at once but in a staggered start.
If few folks enter, then I would think multiple laps would work. Just my thoughts though.

Wow that's short, about what, 1/2 the distance last year?
Seems most times were in the 8-10 min mark?
I know the vid of my run just barely squeezed into the 10 min YouTube limit lol.

multiple runs would be kind of interesting, means the first time would have to be a little reserved to ensure survival for Go#2

^^^
One Lap for now. yes with staggered starts.
If we have less entries there may be two laps.
But you will see once I get this damn video edited/converted/uploaded to the site that it is pretty rough with some techincal obstacles and I do NOT think you will get under 8 minutes. So we'll have to do some math when it comes to how many racers race and how many laps. etc etc.

I'm wrapping it up now.
My next post should be the links to what y'all been waiting for

Course looks good except for the log pile, swamp and the big muddy rocks in the bottom of the creek.
Looks like it'll be fast.
How are those three areas going to be addressed for the smaller tire folks?

jrraw23 You've done a great job with this course.:driver:

It seemed a little confusing from a drivers point, will there be tape etc to keep folks on course?

And Lorenzo you drive like a............:flipoff2:

^^^
thanks Doug. :fuck-you:
Gotta take it slow for the video.
The log jam is for C and D class. A and B will stay just to the right of it.

The Pond will no be that high in May.

Honestly if you were there you can see the road that hugs the left edge of the quarry. We're still going to send A and B around... for now. and we'll See what it looks like in April.
And its March, we don't have the tape up yet to mark the corners that need them.

And Doug, You racing?

A and B will run the same path on the course.
The only major differences are the ledge, the log jam, possibility of some large tires, the pond and the first V-notch.
Oh forgot one, after the three v-notches (first one A/B avoids) there is the muddy rock crossing. that is for C and D class.

If there is something unclear about the routes, let us know.

IF I get my buggy done I would not be too pleased having to dump it off in a pond... I doubt many of the buggy guys would really want the pond to be included in the race. SMALL mudholes maybe, but anything with standing water more than 10 feet long is too much IMO (most of the crawler guys don't like mud)

Ricky told me that the pond is actually over-full right now and it should drop about 5 feet by May.

so no worries there.
It will not be that deep.
And I could have driven through it.
But I do see how a buggie with no 'body' will want to get soaking wet. You should be okay.

If, and IF, the pond is that high in May we will route A,B,C and D around. But I doubt it will be that high as much as Ricky was tellin me the pond was oddly high.

yeah, there is actually a road that is covered by pond water right now. You just cant see it right now. I think Johnny is going to be pumping that water out during the mudraces anyway, and using it for cleaning off the mud tucks. Should'nt be a problem come May.

just looking over a few things on the 4x4cross site and have a few questions: the $25 fee for the co-driver, does that cover their camping for the weekend? Also on the pre-run day, how many times can you pre-run the course. And will there be any other chances to pre-run? Just curious.
