Oil Drop

was 3.89 for diesel off exit 73 on Hwy 77 last Sat.

^ That Flyin J there always has the kick ass diesel prices

$4.04 in Wytheville on Sat, $4.14 at the truck stops on 40 btn Greensboro and Durham.

Who the fuck is this "they" you keep talking abou/ Do you really believe that there is someone actually setting the price to whatever they want regardless of supply and demand?
I was referring to "they" as the government and the oil companies...and yes...I believe that they set prices regardless of supply and demand. Do you think gas needed to triple in price after hurricane Katrina and NEVER come back down?

Of course...the oil companies can't screw the stockholders, so for that reason...the gas and oil prices will never be what they were...

Two stations across the highway from each other. One of them at $4.39, the other is at $4.09. The one down the street from my house is at $4.59. GOUGING!

you have much to learn grass hopper.

Don't worry, as soon as Obama takes office, he will simply walk over to the knob in the Oval Office and turn gas prices down.

$3.45 regular gasoline. in winston on the corner of Peters Creek and silas creek.

3.21 for regular in S'burg.....3.89 for diesel.

My neighbor (actually 2 houses down) owns 3 gas stations, Ill have to ask him who controls his prices LOL

BTW it can vary station to station depending on their supply tanks. Jay for example (above mentioned neighbor) said he has 10k gallon tanks I believe while most have 6k gallons (again I may be way off, I just remember his were almost double normal) He said the benefit is when gas prices jump up, he can climb up and match with more reserve of the stuff bought at cheaper prices. However when the prices fall the store across the street that gets gas delivered once per week, has a cheaper cost basis that him for the next week or so. Dont forget the station owners (at least the small local ones) dont make the gas, and if you are buying from a gas corp. owned C Store you are already paying too much.

Yeah, that's usually what happens when prices drop, but a couple of stations hold out at the old price. They're stuck losing money on fuel they've already purchased, where the guy across the street might have just filled up at the lower rate.

But what about all the extra profits made when you have a full 10k gallons before the price rises. That offsets the cost of "losing" money when the price is on the way back down. Don't get me wrong, I know people have to make money, but I don't like how that works at all.

lol, i laugh every time i see the lines there. just on the other side of 40 is 3-4 gas stations with the same price but everyone sees the wilco and assumes it's the only one and waits in line for the "cheap" gas.

can you name a plastic part in your engine?

the only thing i can think if is a water impeller for a volkswagon jetta.

yeah, the rubber lines was all i could come up with too. Ethanol will cause the lines to corrode faster. i suppose.

Ethanol is horrible on a boat....not so sure on vehicle...
