Personal cdl

if your not going to drive commercial you can get a class A license (this license is NON CDL) basically the same test but you don't need any schooling. just study the test, go take it, then show up with a rated truck and trailer and take the driving test. the DMV will try to encourage you that you need the CDL but, hold you ground. this is for personal use and you just need the weight restrictions. you don't want all the crap and limitations that come with a CDL.
here are a few other threads
has anyone taken the NC non-CDL class A license test?
Non-Commercial Class A?

Also, the 10 acres doesn't necessarily have to be YOUR land.
So you're saying when I finally buy a 5ton/whatever I can farm me some trees in pinnacle? :huggy:

If you happen to have 10+ acres of land you can put a farm tag on it and be exempt. Weighted tag is half price too. There are restrictions, you can only use it for farming purposes.

Driving to the land, to a repair shop, to get fuel, to get supplies, all that counts. Also, the 10 acres doesn't necessarily have to be YOUR land. I have a farm tag on my M916 tagged for 80k. No CDL. I am farming trees, they are growing and will be ready to cut in 15-20 years haha.

I sent in the paperwork for my farm number this morning. Glad to know there are even more benefits tHan just the tax and insurance breaks. :)
