Pics and Video from the March RockRace

I would also like to thank the Mud Devils. Went out there yesterday and watched a great event and did some riding out there today. What a fun place to ride, thank you guys.

Thanks to all who came out, hope everyone had a good time. This was the first time we've had an event like this so there was hiccup or two, we tried to be as fair as we could possibly be in the timing and scoring. We have been discussing doing an average of three times for the next event, we'll wait and see. We really want to thank the competitors for putting yourself and your rig on the line for everyones enjoyment, hope no one is too terribly sore today . We're already discussing doing it again sometime later in the summer. Keep the pics and videos coming. This was one of my favorites

I think three times is a little too much to be honest, two laps averaged would be cool thou, I just think by the third lap everyone (spectators) will be getting kinda bored and those that broke on the first/second lap and couldn't get fixed in time would be screwed on their following DNF's. Otherwise it was def awsome and I'll be at the next one.

Here's a coupla pics

^^ what's wrong with this last pic? I think It's the head light missing.

Here is a photo of all the competitors prior to the competition beginning. I shot roughy 300 shots that I'm processing and posting to my Flickr account. They are available via the link posted below. Feel free to comment.

Projektj - Dude thats a sweet pic, I wanna get that in a poster with like DPG Rock Race '07 across the top or something because I am seriously lacking in offroading posters/tshirts :driver:
edit: Hey mods, that would sure make a cool picture to add to the header . . . . . ;)
Thanks, I've got a lot more to come.

Back to the three times comment,
I like the three runs idea? BUT only take the two fastest.
Otherwise it kind of rewards the "tortoise" when the hare is more fun to watch. (remember, I'm not entering, so I don't have financial incentives to want them to go light on the skinny pedal)
If you had one run you could ignore, it would let them lay it out there on that last run. If they had two consistent runs.
Otherwise, one mistake and you are out of it.

Thats a good call, would probably work better, allthough after this saturday i still think 3 runs and the crowd would be getting pretty bored, it might help if the breaks in between the runs werent as long, i realize ya'll had stuff you were trying to work out with the course/etc, and I'm glad we had that break to get some lunch, but thats when the crowd seemed to really start to get restless, maybe try and cut down on the non racing times? Also i think that maybe working out a better way for the crowd to see the whole loop, especially if you guys hold another during late summer the tree's are gonnabe covered with leaves and it will be real hard to see back in the woods, maybe a path could be cut from the lower side so that poeple could follow a little further into the woods to watch? Oh and def don't get rid of the jump at the end :driver:

First time I'd been there, had a really good time but had to leave at 12:00. Everyone was friendly and had a good time from the looks of it. My brother in law was with me, strictly road racer guy, I think he was pretty impressed with the action.

Good times. I looking forward to the next time. I say we run heads up and are matched up by v8, v6, and 4's. Make it three tire classes and double elimination. Sit back and watch the parts fly. Big THANKS to the Mud Devils and land owner.

Never thought I would like the competition aspect of it nearly as much as I did. Had a kick ass time in the race as well as the whole weekend. We NEED the pics of Stump flying!
As far as how the next race is planned out, I don't guess it really matters to me, I won't be allowed to enter. As of yesterday, my wheeling days are doomed. I think I'm required to part out my jeep and start a several year long build, destined to never wheel again.:flipoff2:

Travis you know us all too well:D

I am not a competitor and missed the event saturday. Something about being off two saturdays already for off road events. My boss does not wheel:shaking: . Looked like everyone had fun hate I missed it.

I have seen events where they ran the course once in one direction and then a second time in the opposite direction and then the guy or gal with the best combined overall time wins. Not trying to tell anybody what to do because I am just glad we have local folks willing to put forth the time and effort to get something like this going locally.

yeah, i like what hscrugby said.3 runs drop, the worst time, then add up the 2 best times to find a champ.the backwards idea is cool also, but i like the fact that by the third run you should know the course well enough to really shred it.Ifelt like i could have made a 4th run blindfolded...lol..hey thats an idea...nahh maybe not.(if you sanction it, they will come)Maybe save backwards run in case of a tie or something. Even if you leave it like it is,it will be fun and i will be there.

a big thanks goes out to the Muddevils/land owners for a really good event.Being more of a driver than a spectator,I really enjoyed watching the competition for a change.
Now I know ya'll love watching the bigguns run.I hope ya'll will keep us more stocker class vehicles in your thoughts and plans.

Just as an aside, and I am fairly sure SOMEONE will find amusemnet in this. (NOT me though).
I did NOT race.
I did NOT even "free ride" afterwards.
I drove in the #)*@#)(*@# parking lot, (aka field).
SLOWLY.
I managed SOMEHOW to fawk up my dana 35.
I hate jeeps.
I even drove around the "big" banks instead of over them in the field.
So anyway, i'm looking for a new rear axle with 3.73s for a TJ. anyone got a spare?:shaking:

If it wasn't my DD, I'd say fawk it and it's time for 60s. BUT it IS my DD. And the wife is ALREADY mad I am going to be driving her to and from work for a few days. Oh well.
By Friday she'll be mad enough at me that I can spend the loot on an axle.

screw different classes, will ran a pretty damn competitive time in my truck, and its a shit beat 4 cyl on 38s. there was a lot more motor and tire in our class and i think we still came out ok. its all about the driving :driver:
