Pics and Video from the March RockRace

so on what obstacle did your front let go? the jump at the end?(i think it was at the end, but i want there so i dotn know for sure...)

I have photo conclusive evidence that it may have been "letting go" before then.

Prior to the rear tires leaving the ground, the driver front shows a significant outward pitch, noted here:

Upon lift-off one can see a very distinct turn in the driver front tire whilst the passenger front is "somewhat" straight forward.

As with most of the DPG Rock Race landings, a thrashing of the front end ensued.

You are correct....the night before we left we put in Crapfield chromo birfs (which promptly broke the next night)...we had to heat the bottom of the housing to get it to bend down enough to get the new shafts in...it's been bent up down forward back...i'm sure the last jump didn't do it all...

...i think we can still straighten it and weld a brace on there...

yeah...I say make everyone take the same line...no offshoots...some may say I only got such good time because I went around the corner lounge...but hey...it was open to go that way...you could have too...the little tire guys got to bypass that big rock (don't know what it's called?) on the back side of the course though right?

one line...one class...best run time wins (no averages)...if anyone thinks thats a dis/advantage I'll drive your rig...you can drive mine (or johns...whatever the case may be:flipoff2: )

...even if you don't win the trophy people will still be talking about that little samurai, toyota, or jeep that beat the living crap out of their junk and made a decent time...that's what it's all about anyway right?...

will was the most entertaining driver in the event. you beat the hell out of metro's junk.

Sorry, didn't mean to take it to far off topic there.
ADD strikes again.

But yea it was a great time.
I'll be at the next one, and hopefully I won't break an axle driving through the field. :)
(It didn't actually "break" but the emergency brake's autotensioning click wheel thing broke bouncing around in the drum destroying everything in it, and screwing the axle shaft's outer bit up enough I swapped in a spare.)

Oh yea, and I'll try and get a good picture of people breaking crap on the jump next time. :)

I just got to say, NC has some of the coolest looking buggy's I've seen. I used to live in NY and its basically just mud and sand draging were I was. Here it just awsome, the way trucks are built and the style of wheeling is just way better in my opinion. I never would have a half-way decent sami if I never moved here and seen the enginuity I've seen just in a year and half.

For the next one...I'd like to see a turn or two where you'd either have to do a front or rear dig (or tank steer it - if you're rich) to make it in a timely fashion. If you don't dig it you'd be making a 3 or 4 point turn to avoid going off the course resulting in a slower time. Maybe make it out in the field for all to see...at high speeds this could make for some fun flops...

...it's a slow day at Line-X...thought of that while looking through more pictures...that is all...
