Want To Buy postings; specifically tires; being moved.

I have gotten confused with this also. I understand this is not for the Tires and Wheels section, but why does it give the option to choose WTB when you start the thread.

Also...the WTB section states (subtitle) "misc items want to buy/sell/trade". Should it not state (subtitle) "all items wanted" because if you want to sell or trade something, then you post it in one of the for sale sections.

Not ranting, just saying I understand the confusion. The Tires and Wheels section states (subtitle) "tires and wheels only". The Tires and Wheels section also, does not state "For Sale" as the other sections. Most people (or at least me) would assume that would be the section to post anything related to tires (either needing to sell or needing to purchase) since WTB section states (subtitle) "misc items".

I just get a little aggrevated with the "I moved your post" or "did you not pay attention" comments when I think it needs a little clarification.

Maybe I am paying too much attention though.

No, it's a good point.

At one time, we were going to get rid of the "Wanted" forum and just move all WTB posts into the appropriate section... tires, vehicles, etc. So we created the thread tags in order to distinguish one from another.

IIRC, a few people complained, liked it the way it was, so we put the whole thing on hold until we could come to a consensus about the best way to organize the Classifieds. The thread tags are hanging around as artifacts of that aborted reorganization.

It definitely needs to be cleaned up. I'm open to suggestions about how you guys think it should best be done.

Wanted should be lumped together. Axles wheels and tires in another. Then vehicles and trailers. Other parts for motors, trans, etc.

I like the idea of utilizing the appropriate tags and doing away with the WTB section but I am a fairly new member of the forum and don't want to ruffle any feathers.

It seems like when you post something in the WTB section, it is somewhat useless as a lot of the post never get responded to. I'm not saying that would change if they were mingled with the other categories but it may.

I personally prefer not to have the wanted ads cluttering up the "for sale" section. I think it is best left how it is. Maybe remove the option of putting a WTB tag in the for sale sections if possible?

Yeah, we don't know if it would be better, but the numbers are pretty clear on the current setup: nobody looks in WTB. Sometimes I'll notice something if I'm looking at the New Posts list, but I don't ever open the WTB subforum. Freebies is the same way.

When you think about tires, it sort of makes sense: put them all together, keep it sorted by type. It's easier to search that way.

break it down like Pirate...

What are we going to do with a section for Canadian Classifieds? :flipoff2: Pirate also puts motors and transmissions in one category, and axles, tires, and wheels in another. Where do lockers go? What about driveshafts? Coilovers? Link hardware? You end up with some stuff getting posted in one forum, other stuff somewhere else, and a couple of moderators trying to keep it all straight.

^ I agree on the pirate thing...Suspension parts get lost in the mix. I like our "parts for sale" that covers it. Maybe a section for axles only, cause I still dont know how to search for "D60" or "Dana 60", I try putting @$$#% after the 60 but it never seems to work...

As far as WTB I think it should go. I always feel like there is someone out there who has the part I want but may have never considered making a for sale add for it, and is more than willing to sell it. Only problem is they dont know I need it, and never check the WTB section. Just about everyone scans the FS section when they log on. I say keep the tags and put them to use, at least in the tires and wheels section...it dosent see the volume that other sections do anyway.

I say go back to the old way

FOR SALE
PARTS
VEHCILES
MISC
WANTED

That is it...

But I KNOW I am over ruled here

I have had a lot of luck with my WTB ads, when placed in the WTB section. Had one work out for me just this week!

My vote is to leave it as is, and if possible get rid of the drop box that says WTB in any area that is for sale items.

my .02

leave the WTB section, and that includes tires/wheels. The Tire/wheels section should be FS only.

I guess that's how it is, just clean up the heading/subheadings, and if possible, clean out the non-relevant tags in the drop down menu's.

yeah, ive been able to help a few people out through the WTB section.

i always check it to see if there is anyone looking for something i have just laying around.

I enjoy they way it is and vote to stay mines the tags.
why tag the post at all in side the section that seems to be the problem. And I'd you put a trade tag u still have to have a price so its for sale its pointless. Maybe make the tags the make of the vehicle (ford, chevy, toyota, buggy, jeep, kia, Ferrari, misc.)

I think the wanted post need to stay separate for the fact of organization. With the economy I know the wanted sections paid a lot more bills of mine then for sale. (No job)
So I know people are posting and looking there for parts. If I need something I don't look in for sale I post wanted and wait a few days to get a bite. Weekends get more responses

My 2 cents
