PLEASE READ Possibly "Uwharrie" type trail system in NW NC

I will say this...if it has a creek...look into doing the "log bridges" deal over it, aka Uwharrie creek crossings. That will go a long way towards keeping it "green"

If you simply allow everyone to drive up the creeks, you will eventually have an issue with the EPA. (Assuming creek continues on, off of your property, thus you are violating the rights of downstream owners, etc ad nauseum)

I say that with heavy heart knowing how much fun I have seen in the creeks..but I know there was an ATV park closed recently because of that issue. (Creeks/EPA)

Something to keep in the back of your mind though is manmade obstacles. The rockgarden at Crawfords Campground is an example. I believe some guys on here built something in Charlotte recently too?

DPG is not large but does have alot of boulders. That is their main draw...

So...of course we will come...and getting that city/county on board will be a big help. The folks in Harlan KY can comment on that...the entire city is behind their park in a HUGE way! (Just like all the towns around the H/M trails in WV)

I'd definatly come! I'd help out with trail formation as well. We have a few tractors and I'd gladly bring them up to help out. I have a GPS tool that could be used to help map the trail system aswell.

UPDATE:

thanks for all the support guys!! im working on this as well as some other ideas. we already own 50 acres that border the 500acre piece so in the short run we are contemplating building a smaller park/playground with manmade obsticles and a course kindof like a Camp Jeep course except tougher on the 50acres. That would be minmum investment for us and also would give us an idea of what we are getting into.

Screw ATV's. That's the only group with a worse reputation than we have.. But, I guess ATV's could ride the easier trails.. money is money... I just hope the darwin candidates you always see at UNF doesn't hear about this..

Thats why I mentioned only a few select clubs be allowed which don't have a bunch of hooligans riding with them. TTB is a very safety oriented club and no drinking or anything is allowed while riding.

Would you be willing to open it up to ATVs, like maybe the resposible ATVers, i'm a member of Triad Trail Blazers and the majority of us are from the Lewisville, CLemmons and winston area. So i'm sure we would be in support of it also since it is very close.

dont know about ATVs yet or not. we will have to see how well it goes with 4x4s first. It may be that we are so packed with 4x4s that there isn't room for the ATVs.

if you need help setting up and building be sure to post and I am sure we can get alot of man power support to assist you in getting the final trails laid down. Good luck getting community's support.

Heck Yeah i'm Part owner/Bro :gitrdun:

Seriously me and lincoln looked over the land again today and are getting some pretty wicked ideas....so who knows what could happen??

Just remember not all are hardcore or want to beat on thier rigs. ( mine's dented scatched etc....)Have a good mix of trails. Mild, med, hard.
And some of us work weekends.....it would be nice to have a place nearby to wheel w/ out taking a day off....in other words...be open all week.

Seems to be in the Yadkin Co. area???? Thats close enuff :) :) :)

Let me know if you need Topos to look at the lay of the land and mar out trails. If you have a GPS, grab the coordinates and I'll get the Maps. I'll even make trail maps out of it for you. It's something I do ;)

that could be a good idea. any idea how big DPG is? acreage wise?
i've never been to DPG, i need to go check it out for some ideas. where is it located? its it privately owned? when is it opened?

DPG is on 100 acres. The part we ride on is maybe 15-20. There are a few trials there, owner used to have alot of atv rides, but we don't go there for the trails. It's also been a BIG help to us to have an awsome land owner, and access to a trackhoe.

Here is our forum http://muddevils4x4.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

I think 500 acres would go farther than you think with good planning. There are several sites that you can get satalite images from, this may help. The people who run callente have had some problems with the EPA, but I think they only came around because of logging.

I would ride there, and I'm sure most of the Muddevils would, too. IF you put in some hard stuff somewhere.
