Just looking around the parking lot at my work, there are maybe 4-5 JK 4-door Jeeps with lifts, tires and assorted accessories bolted on. None of them appear to ever leave the safety of asphalt/concrete. Posers have always existed, but it seems the trend of poser Jeeps is increasing around the area I live and work.

oh, you are telling me! High Point is full of them. I guess most of them see them at dealerships, pay outrageous amounts for them and think they are part of an elite group. most of them with white sun glasses and affliction t shirts and jeans. :)

Its a JK thing, you wouldn't understand. (and neither do I)

I dont have a problem with it. Some people just like to look cool, but theyre not. lol. Been that way since Adam & Eve man.

One day i would like come a across a JK with a bed'lined exterior

On a similar note, I'd love to see the percentage of those who own 3/4 ton and larger trucks that actually use them for anything that requires more capacity than an S-10. I look at the local high schools and see diesel trucks and 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks with stacks through the bed (kinda hard to haul anything with stacks in the middle of your cargo box!) and squatted so bad that if you put a 50 lb bag of sand in the bed, the tires will rub the fender wells.

When I had my boat, I would pull it with my Dodge Daytona. It was far from ideal, but it did the job. Suprisingly, I never once spun a tire even on the steepest of ramps. I used to watch guys with big trucks spin tires on the same ramps pulling a pair of jetskis.

Its not a very elite group when the only qualification to be in it is you can make a monthly payment.FB is full of that shit.

Get off my back bro.

Have met lots of folks with Jeeps and I'm pretty certain that not one single one that actually takes it off road bought it lifted. They all added stuff as they went along. The few folks I know that did buy their Jeeps "done up" don't go much beyond a Forest Service road.

I had an 86 Dodge Daytona turbo car. Bought it cheap. It was good at getting towed. :)

Gotta love auto correct

A friend of mine's brother bought a brand new JK, Rubicon. He never even drove it before he had RubiTrux pick it up and add another $30k to it. Now it is lifted on 37s, a ton LED bars, a winch, etc. It has never once seen even a gravel road! My buddy literally told me that he got dirt on the tires one day and was outside armoralling them to make sure there was no dirt left.

It infuriates me for some reason.

I think the same could just be said about 4x4's in general. How many things out there with a transfer case have never and probably will never leave pavement. I can't wait for expensive gas/diesel again, really took care of a lot of posers and kept more dumbasses off the road.

Maybe I'm an extremist but my belief has always been unless you built it yourself, you don't have a right to claim the life.

That's a little extreme, but for the most part I agree. I just hate when people pay someone else to build something and don't even know how to turn a wrench. You need to know enough about what you have to maintain it or fix in an emergency.

I've run out of time and energy and paid a shop to do things I could have done myself. Also, I have no interest in getting into gear setup, and automatic transmissions are magic so that's two things I'll always pay someone else to do.

I accompanied an employee to the ER a few weeks ago (he's ok by the way), and in the Doctor parking outside the ER, it was 80% JKs, including Rubicons, that looked like Quadratec had puked all over them, and they didn't have a spec of dirt underneath.

Nothing against JKs, I hope to own one someday. But I guess when you've been wheeling forever, you see thousands of dollars in add-ons that do nothing, and you :shaking:.

I just don't get it. If you're going to spend that kind of money for something that's not going offroad, you could at least get a Grand Cherokee...

I might get shunned for this here, but I've always said jeeps (wranglers) are a good third vehicle (need a decent car and a truck first). They really are pretty lousy for an every day driver. They're loud, uncomfortable, get lousy gas mileage. JKs aren't too bad until you load them down with unnecessary crap, loud tires, and windshield light bars that whistle...

In some respects I understand the bro truck fad more. At least a modern 3/4 ton diesel is pretty comfortable, that is until you add rubber band tires, huge offset wheels, and point the nose to the sky...

What is this "car" thing you speak of?
Does a Suburban count?

Cars should come in 1 variety. 2 doors and very fast. If they are 40+ year old all the better.
