Possible to have a nice wedding for under 5k?

You need to ask what all is included in the package. The initial fee is always something that is manageable. What will get you is when they start selling you your pictures. Try to find out if you get to own all your photos or if you get a digital copy of all the photos. Then having them printed is expensive as well, the 16x20's and canvas mats anyway. My recent experiences with baby photos is that photography is expensive!

We used Bert Reed (www.bertreed.com). He did excellent work, and you get digital copies of all the photos he takes. He's well outside your price range, but far more affordable than most we found. Also, he's right close by in Archdale.

Not to be a buzz kill, but the little lady and I have been looking for our wedding and her sister just got engaged as well. And what we've found is $5-600 will barely buy the rights to the pictures for a lot of the photographers out there. Meaning, you don't get a disc with all the pics on it, you might get a single album, but any time you want a copy you have to go back and request the pics from the photographer (I know, I know, you can take the singles down to walgreens too). I've seen those fees anywhere from $100-500 depending on the photog.

We found some one going to school for photography and paid them something like $200 and got all the pictures on CD and she took a bunch. It filled up a couple CDs and we were able to do whatever we wanted with them all.

Jordan Brannock Photo out of Mt. Airy (she is originally from High Point)

Tell her that Taylor and Spencer referred you. She did our engagement and wedding photos. She is awesome.

I know that $500-600 isn't a lot to work with, but that's really where we are at. We do not want to go into debt getting married, but we don't want to wait another 2-3 years to get married either. I am 26 and she is 25 and we are wanting to start trying to have a baby but she wants to be different from her family and be married first, and I respect that.

I need about 85 chairs for an outdoor wedding in April.
Looking at under $2 a chair for the day.

Would like white garden chairs or whatever they're called. Not the Samsonite ones, unless I have to.

Looking for someone in the Triad area.

Find a church that has some and offer a donation to the church.

I have some ivory chair slip-on cloth covers for sale we used at our wedding. It was cheaper to buy them than rent them. If you find ugly chairs, these will cover them up.

This ^^^ or ask your local funeral pallor or community center. They are always willing to rent cheaper than a rental instead of them sitting still making no money. We donated to a combination church and community center for our wedding.

Anyone think going to Charleston, SC is a good idea for honeymoon? We wanted to try and go on a cruise or a resort, but we don't want to spend a lot of money...so I was thinking of going to Charleston...

tips? advice? how expensive? nice places to stay?

Having lived there for 5 years, I will say its a blast! It can be as pricey as you want it to be and has excellent restaurants, ferry rides, historic downtown carriage rides, awesome hotel accommodations and everything in between.

We went to Charleston for our Honeymoon. Stayed near the historic district (more $$) but didnt have to drive much the whole time. There are tons of good restuarants and bars (college town), and a ton of history & things to do.

If you enjoy history, check out some Plantations, downtown tours, Hunley museum, Fort Sumter, Battery Park, Patriots Point. Also, there are beaches to just relax if you wish: Isle of Palms, Folley Beach, Edisto (little drive).

Most of the places downtown will be Hotels. If you want to get to a resort, you will get out of downtown.

Hilton Head/Savannah is a nice area also.

We did our honeymoon there in 2002. Rented a house over at isle of palms for the week. Cheap in the off-season (house was about 6k sqft, and rented for over 5000/wk in the summer, but was just at $1k in November).

On a few return trips we've stayed at the Harborview Inn near waterfront park. Spendy, but nice.

Check out 'The Wreck' (but...looks like from online reviews it may not be what it was)

Don't eat at any chain restaurants....you can do that at home. Lots of great local places.

For a good backstreet tour, look into the self guided "Gateway Walk" ... connects thru several churchyards/cemeteries.

Sounds like I would enjoy it, but not sure about the wife.
She really wants to go someplace tropical (and I do to, but not trying to spend a lot of money and plus, we will only be gone for 3-4 days)

I'm just trying to get some ideas on what we could do kind of on the cheap...
but fun and something different than just being at home or go someplace where we would do the same thing we could do at home.

What time of year will this be? Sort of important

I also thought about going to like a spa place, where we can just RELAX and get some massages. Saw a couple place in Virginia, but nothing that caught my eye.

Pay for a hotel, three nice meals a day, gas, an excursion and drinks and you could have had an all inclusive trip to Cancun Mehico.....with better eye candy:D
