Project: Tetanus Shot - 1948 Willys

@getstucksome found me a killer deal on some 38” tsl sx and some beadlocks so I went and picked them up Saturday morning.

Buttoned up all the last minute issues and she’s ready to wheel.

Big bummer. Lost fuel pump after 10 mins of riding. Fuel pump works after hot wiring but injectors won’t fire.

Big shoutout to @ghost for helping troubleshoot and then letting me ride shotgun!
Any day in the woods is a good day in my book. Good to see you.

Per my other thread, its back up and running. My ECU power line(always hot) pulled out of the crimp but was still being held in the heatshrink so visually it looked complete. Re-crimped the connection and it fired right up and idled way smoother than before.

Its a big letdown that something that easy cost me the whole weekend but its working now and I'll know in the future.

I also lost trailer lights on the way home so I need to do a complete rewire of the existing wiring plus add some reverse lights. Then its time to plan another trip....this time with lots of spare electrical parts

I believe you friend there said. It's going to be something simple and stupid..... Glad it's sorted. Let me know if you go back to Gulches.

Been a while. Made it to the NC4x4 meetup and the jeep ran great. Got home and parked it for a few months.

Turns out I lost a Ujoint cap on the drivers side axle shaft. Got it all pulled apart yesterday and found this.

Looks like I’m going chromos sooner than expected.

ECGS the best place still?

Long side stub to be accurate.
Pretty sure I have a stub shaft with a good joint attached to a short side. Not sure if the short side will fit your waggy, can't remember what it fits. But I acquired it when I was running wagoneer axles in that Willy's

Can be had for 12 hazy days.

@Jeff B let me know if you can find it. I’d definitely be interested. 12 hazy days is good for me, I just finished a case.

@Noel looks like that one would work. Just basing it off some rough measurements, both stub shafts are the same overall length.

I’d be interested in both if they will work. I have all the shafts out of the front so I can always bring them to match up.

Hollar when your down towards Lincolnton. I have it

Reviving this thing. Aside from driving it to the pool/July 4th parades, it hasn't seen much love. Girls are getting bigger and want to ride more so that necessitates a rear seat. Picked up a rear seat from @jeepcj3a over the weekend and got to work removing the fuel cell, tool box, and battery.

I was able to relocate the battery underneath the hood and rework/clean up some of the wiring. Had to relocate a fuse panel and a positive bus bar but this should work a lot better for future upgrades.

Started laying out how I wanted the rear seat to mount. There isn't a whole lot of room in the rear but the girls fit and anyone under 5'6" should fit. I'll be adding a shoulder harness bar to the cage as well as additional tube for the seat to mount to. I think I can squeeze the fuel cell back in it's original place and then run an external filler.

Aside from this work, I need to retard the timing a bit due to a high idle and wheel the damn thing.

I would enjoy getting out on the trails with you and that willy. Holler, my shit box is ready..

Pretty much got the rear seat in. Got the seat frame fully welded out. It bolts down to the floor/subframe.

Seat is tacked in. Still need to fully weld it in and get some more tabs for belts.

Still need to cap off the tubes to finish it out but I can start working on remounting the fuel cell. I have a suspicion that I'm going to have to cut the floor out and drop the tank down to the frame. It will net me about 3" in height which should be able to clear the angle of the seat. I've got a remote filler neck that I'm also going to utilize for the tank.
