when you take your tools, something that goes 'bang' should not be left at home. holy crap that place is a cess pool. went this past sat am and thank goodness they have gravel so that you can hear the mouth breathers lurking up on you. it seemed that NOBODY takes tools other than a 15pc socket set there and everybody was begging to use my tools and cussing me when I told them politely 'no'. made it through unscathed until a 7' dreadlocked banger in the parking lot walks up between me and my car and smiles in a manner that you dont want to be smiled at and says 'sup homie?!'- a gentle flick of my coat to reveal a 6" .357 in my underarm holster had him on his way promptly. wtf? really, in public in daylight with TONS of folks around? really? I didnt want to pull it, cause of the law, but just a peek to show him it was there REALLY changed his mind. he was going to roll somebody that am with simple strongarm and a dude with 50# of tools under one arm and #75 of parts under the other, alone in the parking lot, looked tempting I guess.

prices are killer, take a friend and a gun.

if you hate illegals, dont even drive by there. about 30 of them bum rushed the pay station ($1 to get in...) and it was 'on'. they were scattering like bugs with the lights on. too bad they didnt know you had to be hand stamped to get in/pay. hope they all spent the day dropping the trans out of a minivan. fawkers.

Ive become quite the azzhole, havent I? just a product of my surroundings, I guess.

it was like the dang Wild West there Sat am, simply amazing.

yea charlotte pull-a-part is just crazy both times weve been down there it was never worth the trip because every car is just absolutly stripped beyond belief

if you want a good one go to winston never had a problem there. and stuff sits on the lot more than a day

I feel the same way about that place, well said. I always drive my little DD and leave NOTHING in site. I've grown a pretty nasty beard and its shocking how people react to it when you return a FU look to them:lol:

Every time I go it is just like that. I always go with a friend. I never leave tools unattended. I absolutely hate that everybody there asks to borrow tools. I dont mind lending a tool to someone who looks like they really forgot a special tool or something but dont ask to borrow my flat screwdriver or 1/2 wrench.

The PAP does have some interesting characters, but I've been there many times and have never had a problem.

Good advice here. I've seen some pretty rough characters hanging around the parkinglot at the Charlotte one. I'm actually planning a trip there as soon as this snow melts. Anyone want to walk backwards behind me?

I wonder if p-a-p has anything against open carry. I've never noticed any signs before.

I looked, no signs of any sort related to weapons. I do have a 'good citizens card' and make a point to look for places that are 'haters', but nothing at all was posted. most signs I saw were, 'no cameras in or around premices' (sp?).
If you dont really want any legal issues, the safest thing really is to carry a 2# brass hammer (you might need it to pull a part) and just sit it out where youre working. nobody really wants to tangle with a hammer, its just bad.

there was a BIG illegal., (im not going to even give him the benefit of the doubt) that had a razor blade taped to the end of a 2' long wood handle. no $hit. just walked right in. no other tools. just that.

Ive heard that WS is better, but a bit further than I wanted to drive that day considering snow.

Open carry i dont know? But CC being that you pay "admission" may be wrong? That being said.. i wont go without one

ooooh, good point... have to think about that. nope, still gonna carry. like CMPD would really care, theyre not going to respond to a call there.

My husband had to write his name on his "wheelbarrow" cause hell they wanted to take it! lol

I love to go but they stare to hard! (at women)

Why don't they suspect anything when people go in to get parts without tools?

I guess it's the perfect place for them to hangout!!!!

I go there often. Lots of Hispanic folks there, but lots of them are together (they work as teams).

The parking lot is good place to sell "stuff", that's probably why you are approached. A simple no thanks works for every time. I have no problems with a fellow and his gun, shoot if you need to. The place isn't bad. Just looks like a whole.

As far as someone going in empty handed: I carry a phillips and flat in my pocket. I'm not there to rob anyone.

Awesome deals on park and tail lens!

PaP def is shady. I've gone a lot by myself and keep an ear out for sneakin sneakers. I move quickly and don't stay long.
reasons: shit IS stripped as stated earlier and I have seen prolly the same MFers as you chuck.
I haven't been because the last few times it hasn't paid for the drive to go.
I used to sell I bunch of shit but now my crowd aint buying.

Yeah I went the other day and it was a little scary. Might want to brush up a some spanish too. Saw a few good things but nothing really.

The LKQ over here is like that.Mostly Spanish speaking patrons.I loaned a 3/8 ratchet out one time and never got it back. That was the last time I did that.I could definitely see getting into a spot with some of the people that go there,I just try to utilize a little common sense and be mindful of what's happening around me.

Sounds like most of Charlotte and a few Walmarts ive been to.

Ive been to the one on Tryon that you speak of. I saw alot of beaners but I didnt have any problems. Most of good stuff was stripped already.

If you ever feel bad about yourself, go to walmart around midnight. Walk around the store one time.

When you leave, you'll want to take a shower in hopes to wash off the funk.:poop:

Yeah, the Charlotte PaP is definitely a cess pool, but I have found a lot of stuff there that I really needed. It does seem to have gotten a lot worse over that last couple years though. Back when they first opened I used to go in there with half a wheel barrow full of tools, but the place is so stripped these days that really isn't necessary or productive anymore. These days I don't even bother with that yard unless I'm looking for something small and obscure, and when I do go there I try to travel light. Get in and out as fast as possible. I've never carried there, but I have definitely felt uncomfortable a few times.

For what it's worth, it's not that long a drive to the Porter Road junk yard down in Rock Hill, which is also a PaP type yard, and it's not nearly as stripped or a full of thugs.

I'll only go there unless I really have to. When I do I wear my running shoes and use a backpack to carry my tools. I also take a friend and some other company. It's sad that you can't go to a freaking junk yard without having a friend watch your back while you're pulling parts.
