pull-a-part in charlotte

Im new to the pull a part and all and could be talkin out my ass...but im almost 100% positive that the little spanish lady taking my dollar made a huge deal about two cops walking through the door with the guns on the hips...and they had to come back..didnt pay much attention after that seeing how it was my first time and I was way under dressed and freezing my ass off and worrying who was gonna pop out of the bext back seat.

Went there today and didn't find anything I was looking for.

The 99 XJ did have everything needed to add cruise to yours tough.

Have been there a few times, never saw a problem. Usually went on a week day. Yes it is heaven for Mexicans. Last time going was about a year ago, sounds like its changed! Just $1, to look, took no tools. Found perfect set of seats,=What to do?=What to do? Then I realized, they folded & lifted out! Second row in a SUV. Found wheelbarrow & gotum! LUCKY!! $50 for both=full leather. Second PaP might open in spring on Statsville Rd. below Northern Hyd. Hope it's a little lighter toned!:alien:

CCW is illegal if you pay admission. Just sayin'. Open carry is all good as long as there are no signs on the entrances, which I haven't noted.

I've been three four or five times. I've left tools in one spot and walked 20 spaces away scanning cars. I've never been asked to borrow a tool, never felt nervous about other customers, and haven't ever had my XJ molested in the parking lot.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I feel pretty sure of my street smarts and haven't ever felt it was a rough place. I might be ccw'ing though.

Yep, that's the place, I just never knew the name of it. Last time we went down there to pick up a rear axle for my buddys Nissan we were surprised to find that they were having a sale- $60 for all you can carry! You had to carry it ten yards without assistance. So that day we scored the axle, two drive shafts, a power steering box and steering wheel, plus a pocket full of miscelaneous switches and relays for $60. Damn that was heavy. I'm just glad we didn't find a D60 front!

I've never felt threatened while there. Sure, I get asked for tools and even advice. Heck I've even ran the parking lot asking for a jump start before. Never any problems.

I havnt had any problems either. Always carried a big prybar in my toolset. I guess its a little sketch but what do you expect.

Anyone want to walk backwards behind me?
Hey, depending on the weekend, I could be in... Hit me up.

As for my thoughts on Charlotte PAP...

I've been there a few times, and never had the first word said to me by anyone other than the cashiers. I've never felt threatened, and never seen anything off the mark.

Like most places in Charlotte, common sense does apply... and I feel like you are more likely to get along better with crowds like that by NOT stereotyping people. But what do I know?
:flipoff2:

Gonna go myself sunday afternoon. Where else can you get two xj front axle shafts with unit bearings for 30$ ?
Never felt threatened there, but i'm pretty laid back.
And a glock freak! :fuck-you:

Not at the Charlotte one! They are charging at bare min $27 per shaft with the unit bearings. That's IF you can get them to label it "AXLE TRUCK STRAIGHT (BARE) P/U-VAN". They usually like to call it "AXLE C.V. TYPE (FWD)" plus "HUB P/U - VAN". That brings you to about $38 per shaft. At least that's been my experience. If you can getting two shafts with unit bearings for $30, please tell me your secret!!

There's no secret...none of the cashiers there seem to know their ass from a hole in the ground, so it pretty much is what you say it is.

The prices are so random it's not even funny. All my friends say to go to the woman. I don't know what that means, but I'm never being rung up by a guy there ever again.

If anyone is interested in picking me up, I will head out there with them this weekend. I live right on the border of Mt. Hollly and Charlotte. I need some XJ stuff, but don't have a rig to get out there in.

I myself dont live terribly too far from the charlotte PnP but the extra drive to rock hill is so much more worth it. I dont feel like I am going to get robbed and they have a much larger yard with complete cars.

Yeah, the Charlotte PaP is definitely a cess pool, but I have found a lot of stuff there that I really needed. It does seem to have gotten a lot worse over that last couple years though. Back when they first opened I used to go in there with half a wheel barrow full of tools, but the place is so stripped these days that really isn't necessary or productive anymore. These days I don't even bother with that yard unless I'm looking for something small and obscure, and when I do go there I try to travel light. Get in and out as fast as possible. I've never carried there, but I have definitely felt uncomfortable a few times.
For what it's worth, it's not that long a drive to the Porter Road junk yard down in Rock Hill, which is also a PaP type yard, and it's not nearly as stripped or a full of thugs.

i drove my sisters car there to get a part and came back out and it had been broken into and the cop inside wouldnt even do ne thing

Wait....the cop refused to take a report? I'm no expert, but I'm fairly sure the fact that he was 100 feet from where the crime was committed, will he was on duty, would be a major negative for him. Maybe you should have called 311 to request a police office to respond to a auto burglary.

Same thing happened to me. Cop really didnt give a crap. told me to call 311 and file a report. I CALLED in my own auto break-in. No cop came out, nothin. I wasn't nearly as pissed by the stolen radio as much as i was the fact they busted out my vent window (which is a pain in the ass to replace on a mazda truck) to get it.

That being said i park as close as possible to the main entrance now, no issues. I let "some" folks borrow tools. and 90% of the time i make sure im working nearby them or hell, I even help them remove parts on occasion. Its not that bad a place, common sense just goes a long way. Ive left my tools setting in one location and run a quick scan of surrounding rows, never to have had anything stolen. But, just keep an eye out for folks "eyeing" your toolsack. I run into one on occaion, but just stare them in the eye once and they wont bother you any more. That being said, Im a pissed off looking white dood, soooo.............

Made it through the pap today unscathed. Couldn't find everything I was looking for though. The 99 XJ there still has complete front and rear axles under it. 30&8.25

I know a few guys who could have walked out with a $60 drive train. I am a big guy and they scare me.

Charlotte is wierd in that they don't come out to a lot fo vandalism calls. They take a report on the phone. The cops in side are pretty useless they just stand there and do nothing. Technically they are off duty and working security.

I have never had a problem. My wife usually goes with me and noone ever bothers her either. A few times people have wanted to borrow a tool but I only let them if I go with them unless I have a crappy tool in the box then I tell them to find me before I leave. Only ever lost one chinese ratchet.

Gonna hit PAP at 1 pm tomorrow.
Heep needs more spare stuff!
