Got a French guy at work who wants to cook some rabbit. Are there any specialy stores that would have this? He said he looked around Raleigh but could not find.

I run a feedstore and we sell them. We buy them off local people that raise them for meat and/or selling for pets. Go down to your local feedstore and ask them if they know any one that sells them, they more than likely will. Going price here is $5-7 for a decent size young one.

You wascals,

I figured most folks here probly eat what they shoot and not buy wabbit for eating. ...but I'll pass this info along.

Coincidentally, I killed my first bunny yesterday. They're a pest around me, and they're destroying my garden. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to butcher one, and my wife wouldn't eat one if you held a gun to her head. Naturally, I felt guilty flinging the carcass into the woods for the other critters to eat. If you're interested, I can put the next one on ice, they're may be more. Hopefully I won't have to kill too many before they get the point, though. I'm really not a "kill for fun" kinda guy. Unless it's stupid people, of course! ;)

I've got a dog that will nab one for ya..

On the leash she has caught 4 in her 7 years. I'd hate to imagine if I let her run loose.

try whole foods or fresh market.

i know i've seen it at the grocery store that's on the corner of buck jones/walnut, but i think that place closed. can't recall the name of it, there's a large bookstore right beside it.

Rufus,
Thanks, I suggested that too. I have seen Ostrich meat and buffalo in Lowes or maybe it was harris Teater, I can't remember it was on the way to the beer, my wife does the shopping.

I would lay low about talking of killing game like rabbits out of season on a public forum.......BTW you clean them just like a deer skin gut wash and if you like soak in salt water with ice and apple cider vinegar.
Slow cook.

Also remember that in NC because we are getting close to hunting season you can not trade, sell, any wild game. If you get more deer then you need and want to give it away if they pay the prossesing fee, like some do, make sure they cut the check to the guy doing the prossesing and not you, that would be paying for meat. They are coming down on that big time.

A lot of wild game are not safe to eat durring the warm months, they have a lot more bugs and diseases. Some hunting seasons are for peoples safety, not because of killing too many of them.

I have had it two ways. Cut up, rolled in flour like Chicken( how my mom did it)
And rolled on a stick over an open fire. Was great!

Hey CatFish, here's something to try if you haven't already.
Get some Cayenne pepper either seasoning or crush it yourself. I don't know what you're growing... but sprinkle it lightly on some of the plants or whatever they're nibbling on. It'sll only take one bite and at leats that rabbit won't bother it again. It can be easily washed off if it needs to go on something you'll eat yourself. Really only need to do a few random ones around the perimeter (just be sure to mark which ones so you know later, lol).

whats up with the french and rabbits,i ask the french guy that works with me and he eats them all the time,he gets fresh ones from freshmarket, and frozen ones from harris teeter
