He will be 8 in December. Previous owner got him from a breeder in VA, said he was a redbone coonhound. But he's obviously not red, and is bigger than any coonhound I've seen, yet not thick bodied and loose skinned like a blood hound.

Many years ago I had a basset hound lab mix. Pete Pete was his name. He was awesome. He looked hilarious. Full lab body with short basset hound legs and long ears. Had a bark that would register on the Richter scale. The ups man ran over him right after I left home to join the army. All black with white feet. He was so short and heavy that he couldn’t jump up on anything. Forget about a tailgate. You had to pick him up, and the weird shaped bastard probably weighed 75 pounds.

I grew up coonhuntin'. That don't look like any redbone I ever hunted with and one friend used nothing but redbones. He looks mixed with bloodhound.
