A friend of mine died 5/6 years and had one of those w three 2 barrels, breather and linkage (all correct) that he had built for his Fairlane but never installed. He was an old bachelor so his sister wound up w it all.Im sure she didnt get anywhere near that kinda money for it.

Was wondering how the ice was going to be. If it's not cold they tend to complain a bit. I do live that they do this and the winter classic.

Unless it's super humid in the building, the super cooling tubes underneath the ice keep it pretty well frozen. I do remember one year watching the Red Wings play in the Stanley Cup and Michigan had a pretty bad heat wave (I never understood why hockey seasons go so long as to finish in the summer) and there was a literal cloud inside of Joe Louis Arena because of the humidity. The ice conditions SUCKED. You could literally watch rooster tails coming off of their skates.

To me, the strangest thing is how over the years, teams have left Canada and gone to warm places (Florida, Nevada, California, etc) and thrived.

I remember that game at the Joe!

Come to think of it, I think a similar thing happened to the Hurricanes when their machinery broke down and the ice didn't freeze.
This is the stadium series. Games are played outdoors. The pic above was in NCSU outdoor football stadium. (Carter-Finley) There is no building.

Hockey is a stupid Yankee sport that I refuse to watch. If we were meant to have hockey in the south, we'd have enough ice to play outside.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I agree.

Gotcha. Then, yes. Very impressive to keep ice when you can't control atmospheric temperature in Raleigh. I didn't see the upper right of the picture to see that it was outdoors.

Typically when NHL does their Winter Classic, they chose the locations based on the original teams in the NHL, which were all cold locations. At least once, it has snowed during the game and the players just love it.

When I moved here, I was kind of banking on that concept. The Red Wings were playing the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Finals in like 2002 and I thought I'd finally get to see the Wings play live since "nobody's going to give a damn about hockey in North Carolina". Boy, was I wrong. Tickets were as expensive here as there. And the fan base is as rowdy as a NASCAR race.
