Random pic thread.

I run into snakes constantly so I've made it habit to learn to identify them. The only venomous snake we have in Charlotte is the Copperhead but even with them it's good to know the markings and variations. I post them on my Facebook and I get lots of comments. I met this guy this week. He or she was a 4.5'-5' Black Rat Snake

That's an awesome black snake

2 big trees halfway down here from todays storm. I wish they would have fallen all the way instead of hanging up

Also the reference tree down by the creek lost a leg today.

I had moved the bench back to save it from last weekends flood, and it got attacked by poplar branches.

Just pull them them back straight, tie em off with a ratchet strap, and make sure you flick it and say " that ain't going no where". They will live on forever

Driving to work this morning was more of a bear than coming home yesterday afternoon. 3 main arteries from my house to the interstate were closed, and even had a 4th detour when I thought I was in the clear. Should have been a 30 minute drive, but took about an hour. Heres some pics I took along the way:

It looked like this pretty much everywhere from Stanley to Dallas to Belmont to Mount Holly:

They were finishing up this monster oak:

And this one was about 150 yards up the same street, also, detour #4:

The next two were in the same yard on different sides of the house:

And this was by far the worst. I read about it on the Stanley facebook group. The parents and their 4 kids were inside when it happened. The mom was trapped, but they got her out after a few hours with no significant injuries.

You be careful with these widowmakers...
The solution is obvious. ;)

I’ll lift the stump out and slide it over until the top drops. Or push them out of the tree they are stuck in.

I have all faith that you have plenty of experience and a solid plan to handle the situation. I have also cut a man out of a much larger excavator where a tree decided the cab looked like a comfortable resting place. Be careful.

Heavy hauler!

Not bad for drinking coffee and motoring toward a little work today.

That's some sort of Nerodia(water snake). Cool find

Yeah it's a Red Bellied Watersnake. I had never seen one before, but we have a creek about 100ft from the house so it makes sense.

Seems every time I get my yard right, & my new grass planted, we get hit with another storm, & wash it every which way. No trees down, but the neighbor has a couple Leaners, & I got limbs & mess everywhere. All I can say, is So many around here, got it so much worse! I can't do much until it dries up.

My bucket load of storm pics. Not even showing the new grass planting where Matt & I have worked so hard, & Fought the rain more than once! Using my John Deere to pull some huge Sycamore branches out of my driveway, the largest one snapped & attacked me. I had my back to it, & it fell brushing my side [arm & leg], as it crashed onto my Antique. Even knocked the taillight reflectors out! Other than a few scratches, my 1989 mower has never been damaged!
Over next to my rear neighbor, with steep hills, the water came down so fast it gouged out two large mulch beds & washed debris as far as 300'. My neighbor across the street, lost a tree, right up to the edge of the street, & a couple more at the rear of his property. Gaston County got freaking Hammered!
The last pic, is a video. [wth causes this Line through here?]

You bunch of Trashy people! Had to make a few runs to the Gaston Co. Landfill. This place is HUGE, & pictures don't do justice! I'm sure other landfills are just as huge, but I haven't haven't been here in a year. It's just Amazing! This was just a low spot, between two mountains, & you'd need a aerial view to see it all!

Is that the rubber liner that they use on them? We use to haul that on our flatbeds back in the day.

I was filling a tote with my 2" trash pump from the pond. Forgot to crack the lid. I heard it popping and creaking, ran over and shut off the pump then got away quick before it blew.

You can see in the pics how far the cage was pushed out. It was over 3/4 full of water, and airtight.

After about 2-3 minutes holding pressure with the pump off, the center blew out of the cap.

My brother lives on Shadow Brooke, & I went by there to see him yesterday. Power was still out at 5pm., & naturally he's on Spectrum. No cell phone either. I heard they just opened hwy 27, this morning around 8am or so.
