Got some time to play with the new mill today.

Ended up with 15 boards at 1x17” by 10ft long. It’s a good thing I got the Lithium battery conversion done on the SXS and shaved 550lbs off. This is around 1100-1200 pounds of wood!

That sawdust will come in handy with you new chicken holiday inn express.

Nearly showtime. Packed house.

Wife decided we needed a garden. Since neither of us have ever grown anything, we decided to do a couple small raised beds. She started sending me a bunch of pictures of some she found online, I said I'll be right back. Had these stashed in the lower field and figured they would work perfectly.

Today's shenanigans.

Tree's been dying for years, can believe it didn't fall over winter.
Since there's a power line right behind it and I ain't @Danger_Ranger I used what I had on hand to yank chunks off in the opposite direction rather than risk it falling the wrong way and my wife getting pissed about not having hot water....

Unfortunately there's now evidence of some redneck leaving ruts in the front yard. Oops.

FYI the Green works battery chainsaw isn't terrible, but it doesn't really have the size or testicles for a trunk that size. Need to fix my Stihl.

Now I wish I'd done this two months ago before the hostas came up so I could cut the stump flush.

But it's got me thinking about doing some kind of artistic thing w that stump. Open to ideas.

As I get older, I find myself doing things more smarterer. Instead of fighting the screws on a vertical surface, I preinstall them on a flat surface so it’s easier to get em in and everything lines up.

And instead of trying to balance the board and line it up and hold it in place and shoot the screw all at the same time, I take the time to wedge a board in place to rest the siding on so it’s easy and I don’t have to fight with it. Plus these boards are 70-80lbs each haha.

When I put the sideing on my shed I screwed a 2x4 along the base so teh siding had something to sit on and set them all at the same height. Then uncrewed it.

I have the Greenworks chainsaw too and feel the same way. I like it for small stuff, but I don't bother trying to cut anything large with it. I have a Stihl 029 Farmboss that gets used for anything medium and above size.

In my facebook feed. I’d love to hear them explain why the algorithm picked this for some one who spent this week on Facebook reading pretty much exclusively about Mount Saint Helens and sawmills.
