Sloan rep just came by to show us all the new hotness before ASPE in Atlanta

Apparently they have a new line of facuets that can be controlled, adjusted, and monitored from your phone. I think I've seen it all now.

Sounds neat, but I'm hard pressed to think of a scenario where I'd like to control my sink from my phone, did they offer examples?

Yeah, it's basically for easy set-up, balance, scheduling purges, and adjusting the beam depth/throw without taking off the panel and rooting around under the counter. Also to monitor flow and see what actual usages are (which kind of died with LEED)

We complained years ago that the sensor flush-o-meters were too damn complicated when the rep had to come hook a laptop to a toilet flush-valve, so I guess this is a way to one-up that.

My mind went immediately to "Chad the millennial maintenance man" and his overbearing girlfriend picking up his phone and seeing the "Sloan" app asking Chad "So...who's SLOAN, and why do you need to know her FLOW rate?!?!"

I’d consider that for our shower, I keep telling my daughters they are in there too long and I’m going to turn off the water. If I could turn it off while sitting on the couch I’d do it.

I didn't know our parking lot at work was big enough to corral 10,000 horses. Apparently it is :smokin:

I don't know if it needs to be phone accessible - but instead, I'd like a faucet with a sink level sensor that would be able to tell if my kid left the sink on and walked away, leaving the bathroom flooded because he was in a hurry to get back to his video game...

On a side note, our kitchen faucet finally bit the dust and me and the wife went shopping for a new one. We ended up getting one of the fancy hands-free units from Home Depot. When I saw it, I thought, "This is great! EXACTLY what I've always wanted!!!!! And my wife agrees, too!!!!!" Guess what. I HATE IT. The sensor is placed just high enough on the neck, that you have to have your hands just under the faucet to wash them, which makes water splash all over the counter. Also, steam sets off the sensor, so that hot strainer of spaghetti noodles you just placed in the sink to drain, is setting off the faucet. There is a manual over-ride to turn the water on, but there is no manual over-ride to shut it off. Something accidentally falls into the sink like your cell phone? Reaching into the dry sink to grab your phone is like a game of "Operation" trying to retrieve it without the sink spraying water on it.

Be careful what you wish for..... you just might get it.
