Random pic thread.

Had to get a new hood for work my Hobart endeavor was great for hobby at home welding, but couldn’t keep up in real work environment, at least not for my situation! Thank you Lincoln Electric, the Viking is one badass hood to say the least I thought the box was empty when I picked it up it’s lightweight on the head too. It seems sturdy the blue tone is so clear i feel like I’m cheating I’m sure tig could be made into some pretty puddles with these 4c lenses!

Bobcat says you have to have a special cradle, and lift the engine and hydro pumps in and out as one assembly. That also requires taking 2 body mounts loose that are somewhere up there in 15 years of oil and mud, with no room to get to them. @jeepinmatt says F that, I'll wrestle it in by hand in less than 10 minutes.

Dead battery - big brother in to lend a helping hand...or so he thinks.

Random question. How long did it take you to get that pattern so perfect?

Honest answer: I know from doing so many over the years where to start with pinion depth and backlash shims based on ratio and gear brand.
In this case, I tossed the OEM pinion depth shim (3.73 ratio FWIW) and installed what I know is usually needed with 5.13 gears in a D30.
This was first attempt and I was fortunate enough to nail it.

That's really not that impressive, I could have got it to look half that good in 12 hours.
But seriously, that's impressive, especially for the first try......

Just wonder what engine Bobcat uses? Looks like the Jap blue that I saw on a Ford compact [Jap] tractor.

Pinion depth is a trick, been setting them up for about 15 years, hint, try the original shims, it will get you very close! That's all I'm giving up!

Still practicing at this gear install thing

The pink mark looks like a straight up lip stick kiss print, you mean there’s suppose to be paint left when installing them kinda gears? I thought ya spun till paint wore off and that meant it was right...

Project at work... smdh tore the lower c arm off of it, but Check out how the back hatch opens...
