Random pic thread.

Snagged a new frame off my buddies scrap pile and swapped the good motor off my three wheeled machine. Didn’t realize the cap didn’t seal on the oil fill til I’d almost drained it all on the driveway

Whats up with the Grand Wagoneer?

Bought it a few years ago off an old man for $150. Sat for 10 years in the woods. Drug it out and it runs and drives, but no title. Plan to pull the driveline and make it a trail rig. Gonna use the driveline in my 94 ZJ, will have an AMC 360 with a TF727 and 44s.

Have most of the parts, just need the time.

The only difference is that I hit a guy on the rear bumper and my plate is with zip ties now and my led light too and I am missing the little bump cover, it’stime to get a winch bumper and upgrade the OEM [emoji2960] I have an excuse now [emoji16]

Buddy of mine came over and we knocked out some more work on the LJ. Hoping to get the front of the tub stitched in today, or at least cut and on the frame.

Made another Red Neck Solo Stove. They honestly work better for heat and look prettier burning.
You don't have to brag about cost, but may want to hide her til dark to impress some folks.
My best version of legs that don't look completely utilitarian.

washer drum?

Did a little bit of tree work today. And no, its not me on top of the tree. I got (crazy) people for that. First pic for scale. It's the big oak on the right.

That was a beautiful oak :(
No joke. Good friend of mine is building a house on the lot. I've been trying to talk him out of cutting it down for 3 months. Finally he got a quote from a tree company, and I realized it was gonna happen regardless, so we worked out a deal. It pained me. But the trunk will be working its way onto the sawmill eventually if we can cut it down enough, haha.

I kept a stainless front loader washer tub and some stainless tubing to tig one together for years and never got around to building it. Sadly it was victim to one of my "cleaning" fits.

A few years ago I picked up a portable lp firepit and have not looked back. I love it and haven't burned wood since.

I cant imagine the red tape you'd have to go through down here to cut a tree that big.

Red tape? Just crank up the saws!

Edit: just saw youre in charleston, I understand.

In theory, I agree. In reality, I end up being this guy.

Mt. Pleasant man faces fines for tree cutting
What a crock. I like trees but I can't stop a man from cutting trees on their property if they want. This is likened to a Home Owners Assoc. IMO. I'm not a fan of this type of stuff. If they weren't his trees and didn't get permission, sure, burn his ass. Otherwise go piss up a rope.

That reminds me of my Dad was kinda that guy back in the 80's. We used to go cut wood about every other weekend in the summer for heat (grew up in Toledo OH), we would find trees that were pretty much dead and would season out pretty close to that winter for the wood stove.

Dad had a permit to cut a tree on City property but had expired maybe 9 months, I was not even a teen yet but it seemed to be a 30' tall tree at the time, he was making the final cut to fall it into a field, I was waiting at the truck. when a police officer pulls up and asks what we are doing. "Well we are cutting that tree down......" office told me we need to stop, I said "you stop him I'm not going over there." Needless to say we waited till the tree had been fallen. Officer asked for papers and dad showed expired permit. Luckily we just got sent on our way. Tree was left in the field untouched. Lawyer told my dad not so show up for court and to my knowledge never did or pay the fine. Not exactly as exciting but it is one I'll never forget. I'm sure it would have turned out differently this day and age.

I get the sentiment, but just like the American Chestnut the true Live Oak (Quercus Viginiana for the nerds among us) is hurting and you cant just replace a 300 year old tree because the previous homeowner wanted it gone.
If you are in Coastal SC...believe me you know the deal when you buy the property...

Not a tree hugger or tree nerd, but I get my love for them from my grandfather. My heart sank when I read the short details on that majestic fella. But I also get giddy when certain species are processed into something beautiful. Absolutely love running chain saws and a sawmill. A mill is in my hot list of wants.
Hope that bottom section sees some purpose.

I get it. I also love to see old growth but to me it's a slippery slope.
