REMINDER: Space heaters and coiled extension cords are dangerous!

I've been using the same 50' orange cord on a winding wheel for every kind of power tool and circumstance under the sun for years. Wasn't thinking about it, with the crazy cold I plugged a typical 1500w heater into it to help out in the sunroom.
Came in a few mins ago and its smelly and smoky in here... wtf? Picked up the wheel and holy hell it was hot. Could see light smoke. Probably lightly smoldering off the years of dirt and crud from shop use.
Wife says, "I'd rather we not become one of those statistics during cold weather please!' lol.

A lot of current getting pulled through that cord. Well within its rating but heat has to go somewhere and coiled up it will just accumulate. Plus coiled it creates an extra induction effect. Stupid physics.

There's a reason it says to not use an extension cord. Glad you caught it.

I’m just trying to figure how you call your old lady “wide” and are worried about the cord burning something down? Mine would burn it down with me in it……

Theres a lot of higher end extension cords at Ollie’s right now. I bought a 10 gage 50 footer for a 110 welder years ago, it’s thick and heavy as hell, but I’ve never worried about it
 
I have a firm belief now if you get selected for an interview somewhere you have a higher chance of getting the job than you may think. 100 resumes, 15 people contacted for interview, 4 people responded for an interview, so far 1 has shown up for interview.

This shit is crazy
 
would tend to agree. At my old company we would say yes more than we would say no... or we would lean the Nos to a lower position if we thought it was better suited for them

So I guess this is a good thing for someone like me if I have to start looking for a job. If I schedule something I'm going to show or call and let someone know.

Yes. We are hiring for a maintance position full-time pay flexible hours. Full benefits, 401k. And they pay above average wages and still only had 1 person show up so far.

And that guy's daughter works on the property at one of the restaurants.

It may be different as you go up the career ladder in different fields but seems like an easy job making good money people would be fighting for it
 
Don't know where else to put this. I rarely ever wear work boots and don't like to but with this weather and my snow/ice removal the last two days, I've worn my 10+ year old Wolverine boots that fit well and do the job. For about two weeks I've been getting ads on Facebook about boots. LONG before I even thought about using them for this weather. Yesterday I noticed my heel getting wet and when I took them off, the sole was separated from the leather, today, both soles are separated. Blows my mind, I never even thought of boots but I'm getting ads because I need new boots now and today I got an ad for larger sizes with wide EEEE sizes, which is what I wear. How does an algorithm figure this out?

Dammit Jody now I have to go through this website, pick out what I want, research how it connects to my current set up, figure out how I'd like it situated on my dash, and then never ever buy it.
