I have a '94 cummins that has been my tow rig for 3 years. I never exactly measured the mileage it got towing my other truck but I think it's around 12, even without O/D working.

The cummins has been breaking down too much lately, so I bought a 2000 ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.9 gas motor and 315s.
It's gets around 10-11 mph going to work without towing anything. What kind of mileage can I expect towing about 7k???

Towing with my V10 Dodge I get 7-9

my '92 CTD gets 11 almost every trip no matter what I am pulling

this past weekend I used a 95 chevy dually with a 454 drove from Raleigh to Marion NC and got 8.9mpg not towing anything, turned around and towed hope around 10,000 lbs and got 9.3mpg

My 85 Dodge 360 get about 7 towing, 10 empty.

Duane

30' Rv 454 w/TBI 6.6-7.5mpg depending on terrain(big hills suck!)

9-10mpg with my hemi pulling ~9500lbs. 13-15 empty.

I have towed with only gassers so far
78 Jeep J truck with a 304
78 Ford E250 van with a 460
73 Dodge RV with a 440
and currently a 84 Car hauler with a 454
all towing a 6000 plus pound trail Jeep
Depending and gearing, how fast I went(none had or has an OD transmission,
I have got anywhere from 6 mpg to 10 mpg towing.
I have learned that 60-65 mph and high octane fuel gets best results

wow! i get 14mpg dding my jeep......

2001 GMC 2500 6.0 Gas 8.5 Towing 500 miles at 70 mph through the mountains from SE NC to sparta KY. For Dixie Run 2010. I had about 6500lbs in tow.

2000 excursion v10, 315/75/16's, 3.73's. 10-11mpg empty, 8-9mpg with one vehicle on (8-10k lbs.), 6-7mpg with two vehicles on (12-14k lbs.).

'99 2500 Suburban 2WD/5.7L Vortec/4L80E/SF "14bolt" w/ 3.73/HydroBoost brakes

Avg daily (50/50) - 11mpg
Best (all) highway- 15mpg
Towing 7000# - 9.5mpg (last URE trip w/o OD)

Standard "car" tags, $20 oil changes, and sleeps VERY nice in a rain storm :flipoff2:

I got a 93 Chevy 3500, 454, 5 spd, 4x4, 14bolt ff with 4:10 gears. I get 8 mpg all the time empty or loaded or towing.
