Just curious to see if this happens to anybody else.

My memory really sux when it comes to remembering the face/names of people I meet when we are wheeling. It usually takes a few meets before it sinks in. More than once I have been emberassed when I am confronted by an individual that I have wheeled with but don't remember. Sometimes it's a person that I only talked with a few minutes, sometimes it's a person I wheeled with an entire day!

Is it because we tend to meet so many people at one time? maybe because there is so much going on around us?

It really bothers me and I meen no disrespect at all, I just don't remember.

Anybody got any tips or tricks to help out this problem?

To help remember someones name, when first introduced to them think of someone you already know with the same name. Even someone famous. My name is Peter so think (and I get this from a friends little girl) Peter Pan.

I take pictures, and ask their forum ID if they're from NC4x4. Then when I get home I post a picture thread and identify all that I can in the thread.

Some people end up being nameless still, like a lot of the guys at Richland Rd. I'm pretty good with faces, but names often elude me.

Give everyone nick names. Whatever pops out to you when you first meet them. Be nice though, lol.

Wait till ya get MY age! I have wheeled with a lot of great people in my years. Some of the guy's were 18 - 25 years old and have changed appearance a lot. I attended 13 GSMTR's in a row! I had the opportunity to see guy's grow up. I wheeled with some of their fathers. I can't remember names, and these guys have changed vehicles several times! I would not trade this for anything! Now most have two names, you are not making it any easier!

Mike, if you find a solution to this I want to be the first to hear about it. I have been hanging around this crowd for a long time, and I am still horrible with people's names. Like you, I mean no disrespect, and yes, at times it is just plain embarrasing. I try, but it seems that the harder I try the worse it gets. These days I just blame it on age, but I have always been that way. You are NOT alone! Good luck! :)

Ok, glad I'm not the only one. I'm going to try rattlecan & 13 bullets idea method and see if that helps. I usually do ask for thier board name but that's just another name to remember

Braxton357, I like your idea. Everybody should wear name tags with board names included.

Hotdog guy, I was at the flats this weekend and tried to get over to meet ya but never got the chance. A buddy did make a hotdog run tho, I wasn't gonna miss out on that. I will try to hit ya up next time.

I did finally meet Shawn and his wife. Couple of nice people. I really enjoyed talking with you two. I saw warbeast but didn't get a chance to talk to him, I have never met him, I get a big kick out of a lot of his posts. Maybe I'll catch him next time too.

I can sometimes remember................. what was I saying ? I have lots of trouble remembering peoples names , heck I have trouble remembering everything. To many blows to the ol noggin growing up I guess. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy meeting new people, just can't remember names very well.

I blame it on my hard drive, it's full! I have wheeled for so many year, met hundreds of people wheeling and camping. They are all my friends, just because I don't remember a name don't mean nothing, but as said, it does get embarrassing sometimes, they walk up to me, call me by name and I can't return the same. I go to so many rides, events, am in 3 clubs and it gets difficult, I too have to be around someone for a while before I remember names. I honestly do not mean to disrespect them at all.
Now I can usually remember the first time I met them, and what they were driving, or where we rode together.
Like Mike, met you on old 105 on a snow run
Shawn, met him at an ECORS race when I tried to get him off the course when he was taking pictures, had no clue who he was
Met Kevin at a Farm event
Yager, came to my home and bought a top from me
and so on and so on

There was some guy at ecors Saturday that wouldn't quit calling me Chip even after I told him my name he kept insisting my name was Chip. I guess thats what you get for using somebody else jeep. Big thanks to Chip by the way for letting me use upnover2 to cruise around and pick up girls.

brad, i called you chip once on saturday. i hadn't met either of you but when i saw you driving his jeep that was the only thing that came to mind.
i remember some names but i usually have to associate them with a vehicle.
i will have customers come in and won't know who they are but i usually can remember their car and what we did to it.

I remember meeting you but there was some other guy that just kept calling me chip.

Sorry Brad, It's just that you 2 look so much alike. :D

I wheel about once every ten years so I usually can't remember anyone. I typically call them "dude".

Example - 1) Dude, it's been forever. How's life been treating you?
2) Oh yeah, I remember you, how you been dude?
3) No way dude, how could I forgot you?

** - I'm not talking about all the people I know now. I'm just talking to the OP. Dude, seriously, I remember all of you.

I thought I was the worst at remembering names. Between wheeling eveywhere, and buying and selling all over the state I have met a LOT of folks. If I rememer a name it is a miricle. Sometimes I don't even remember a face or a rig. I am sure age has a lot to do with it, and at times it starts to worry me. At the flat on Sat, a guy says, hey, you still got the axle for sale. I am still trying to figure out how he knew me:confused:. Another bad sign, I bought two NC4X4 koozies and lost them before I got my jeep that was parked 50 yds from the tent. Had to buy two more. Starting to get costly as well!

I always get tickled at people who walk up, slap me on the back, and say,"Hey, WarBeast ", and I have no idea who they are.I don't know how they all recognize me. :wtf:
I enjoyed meeting everyone even if I have no idea who you are.

I saw you and was headed your way. I had some stupid smart ass comment but I forgot what it was when I saw you that you was quit a bit bigger than me. But then I got side tracked and never made it over.

That's one of the reasons i changed my screen name to my real name. Make it easier on everyone else.
