RIP Jessi Combs

Man this sucks, she was my girl crush :(

Its sad that she has passed at such a young age, but at the same time I would say that it is quite fortunate for her to have accomplished as much as she had and got to die doing what she loved and lived to do.

I agree...

It's weird, this has been weighing heavy on me for the last couple of days. I never met her, but would have loved to. I followed her on Facebook for years. She definitely had my respect for what she did and how she did it.

I pray we should all be so lucky as to die doing what we love!

If nothing else, I feel like a lot of memorial things will be set up in her honor, so I know her death won't be for nothing.

I knew Jessi from when she started on xtreme4x4 and I gave her crap but she grew over the years and did some amazing stuff that I only wish I could do.

Truly sad that someone has to leave us at this young of an age.

I was trying to remember who it was on here that went to Tellico with Ian and Jessi? I remember just that it was happening, they were testing one of their builds at Xtreme4x4 and I was thinking it was some of CTB crew, super fast post on here looking for volunteers to help/go on the run and I couldn't make it. That was WAAAAY back in the NC4x4 days tho, I think Ian was the one who logged in and posted up here.

Xtreme 4x4 TV and iMPAKS take on Tellico

I wonder if it was the jet plane car she was killed in. She was part of a jet fighter wing removed team looking for land speed record. The ejection seat was left in to bail out in case of problems. Sad to see her gone truly will be missed.

Ok not being ass that was what I was thinking, the show on the plane/car the talk was in keeping the ejection seat with factory and a remote launch set up. Wonder what change or did it happen. Thanks Trailhugger. Still a great loss.

Her biopic, which they started filming in 2013, premiered on HBO Max last night. Did anyone watch it yet?

After hearing what Terry madden had to say about it I don't plan to watch. He posted on IG.

Terrible to hear people used her story/tragedy to make themselves rich

I don't really IG, would you mind paraphrasing?

I had to lookup the video.
He wasn't invited to the screening or to be in the documentary.
He says Jessi wanted to do a documentary for charity.
He said he isn't involved in the Foundation anymore because people in the foundation wanted to profit from it.
He said Jessi wanted 50% to go to the foundation, he said when he left the foundation 3% was the number
His issue is it is a for profit documentary when he says she didn't want that, that was not her goal. That is why he does not support it.

He said his other issue is it showed her final moments and used the onboard footage and doesn't believe they ever should have done that. He destroyed the card of it, but I guess they had a copy of it.

I did watch it last night, prior to reading the IG post. It was well done and you can definitely tell there was some story telling and taking angles on things to add some drama to the story. I understand Terry's frustrations, especially around her last moments being shown. But that footage, although dramatic, was (thankfully) not gruesome. She was doing everything she could to try to shut the machine down, and then at the moment of impact, the cockpit opened and the camera flew out.

It sucks to know that it turned into a for-profit film, but I think it still gets her story out there and she will continue to be an inspiration.

I did end up feeling like wow, the thrill of going 500+mph must be incredible, but half of it has to be just cheating death. Because if almost anything goes wrong, things you may not have any control over, you are done. And although the fastest woman record is cool, it would be cooler if she was still around.

Watched it last night, and this is my exact assessment. Had I not seen there was ‘drama’ surrounding the film, I would have thought it was a very cool and inspiring memorial/tribute to Jessi, and something I’d show my own children.

The crash footage…from the exterior was heartbreaking enough. When I realized they were also showing from inside the cockpit, my stomach turned knots. I’m glad they had the footage for some closure, but really don’t feel it needed to be used for the film.
