Im bored on a flight to Seattle, so I pulled up a map and colored in the states I have actually spent the night in. I'm at 75% of all 50 states (total of 37) with opportunities to hit a couple more this year.

I'm curious, I know some of you guys live on the road, who has stayed in more states? My only criteria is that you have had to spend the night outside of an airport in the state. Driving through doesn't count. Anyone hit all 50???

Here's the link I used for the map: http://douweosinga.com/projects/visited?region=usa

I don't travel a ton for work anymore, so my map has stayed pretty steady for a couple years now. 42% of the states. Probably a couple that I am forgetting also.

Some of my family doing the world map like this is crazy to see how many places they have been.

I actively travel across the US for work. I'm a technician with Advantaclean (home office in Huntersville NC) and I always get sent on big VA hospital duct cleaning projects all over the place for weeks at a time. Sometimes fly, sometimes driving. I figure between that and growing up with a dad a long-haul truck driver and would take me on many trips as contraband lol, I should be at 45 out of 50. South Dakota, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska and for some reason Vermont I haven't been yet. Half of those states were just fly through but the other half I am very happy to say I've spent a good bit of time in getting used to local life, fishing, hiking, camping and mingling with local chicks. Nothern California, Utah and Oregon.... woooo! :smokin:

Not a road warrior, I'm an Air Warrior. I don't have an impressive "boots on the ground" map (26/50):

But as you noted, airport visits are something else all together. Here is the list of airports I have visited in the last 18 months, some 10+ times and mostly for work.

GSO – Greensboro NC
RDU – Raleigh NC
CLT – Charlotte NC
ATL – Atlanta GA
LGA – NY, NY
JFK – NY, NY
IAD – Washington DC
DTW – Detroit MI
ORD – Chicago IL
GRR – Grand Rapids MI
MSP – Minneapolis MN
MSN – Madison WI
MLI – Moline IL
DEN – Denver CO
GYR – Phoenix AZ
LAX – Los Angeles, CA
SEA – Seattle Tacoma WA
MOT – Minot ND
MCI – Kansas City MO
YTO – Toronto ON
YSB – Sudbury ON
YEG – Edmonton AB
YCC – Calgary AB
YMM – Fort McMurray AB
NRT – Narita, JPN
HND – Tokyo-Haneda JPN

My company lets me keep the frequent flyer miles though, so I've gotten some good vacations out of the deal.

I'm a road warrior of a different nature.
While I dont frequently travel to many states for my job I do drive to every nook and cranny of the 2 states. in fact id wager in the past 8 years if youname a town in SC Ive not only driven through it but probably ate lunch there, or visited a jobsite or done businessin some way.

SInce last summer NC is getting that love these days and learning all kinds of new places.

I have set up & worked carnival rides in every state with the exception of Hawaii & Alaska. My father lived in Alaska for many years & I used to visit every other summer.

Also in the virgin islands, Mexico & Canada all before I was 25 years old.

I did the map last night and I have only stayed the night in 13 different states, but I have driven through many more, and I have also seen the airports in many others. Most of my business travel takes me to the same places in the US over and over, and then a variety of countries in Central and South America.

I'm an internet idiot today. I've visited 58% but only spent at least one night in 48%.

There's a big hole in the middle of the US, from our trips to Moab... we drove straight through and didn't stop to sleep in Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Missouri, ever.

I did the map just for fun and came up pretty full....90% , 45 states. I used to be an application engineer for a company that built circuit board manufacturing equipment and it was amazing all the weird locations we had equipment/customers.

I skipped the middle:

My travels match my accent, southern US. Well aside from a quick trip to Connecticut once...But the pizza was good up there at least.

You've probably found a good home for more animals than the ASPC....if you count gold fish!

I'm at 14 states or 28%. If you count drive-thrus and airport visits that gets me up to 21 or 42%. From mid-July until just before Thanksgiving of 2006, I flew to Louisville, KY every monday morning for work. Home on Thursday or Friday, depending on how things were going. In early 2007, my work shifted to Lakewood, NJ. I was back and forth weekly for a few months there. In August '07 I took a more permanent position in Charlotte, NC and have commuting 80+ miles (one way) daily since then.
