Two reasons.

1. I didn't have a place to buy weld nuts from when I bought the hardware today

2. I wanted a lock nut

It really isnt much headache to take the bolts out. Cordless impact on one end and a 3t4 combination wrench on the other makes quick work.
 
I just welded regular nuts on the back of mine. So far none have fallen out or came lose at all. But it looks really good dude

So what happens when you scrub those allen head bolts on a rock and have to grind them off because you can't get the allen socket to fit? Because that's what I had to do last time I removed my engine skid. If the nuts had been welded on I'd have had to cut those off too.

Nothing for them to catch on, like I said they were countersunk nothing sticks out past the aluminum skid. If I'm able to grind the bolt heads down to where I can't get an Allen head socket into them, I'm sure I would have noticed it and replaced that bolt before it got that far.

This is the reason I used hex head over allen head. At least with hex head you can get vise grips on them when they get all scraped and distorted

Thanks! I have had so many bolts back off on this thing before so I didn't want to take any chances. Remember its a 4banger so its like a big vibrator :D

Don't worry my bank account is struggling too it all went towards this shit :lol:

That is not in fact a welder but a very expensive paperweight. Defective right out of the box :mad: Replacement supposedly on the way but they are on national back order so this project may be delayed a bit. Lincoln doesn't make them like they used to. I've always been a red fan but I may be shopping for a different color TIG this go around

Most new welders are crap. I've had issues with most major brands between what friends have, what we had in the shop at App when I was there and what I've used. Gimme an old Blue 211 without all the fancy electronics and I can make it look like I'm a have decent booger maker.

New housing looks sweet. :rockon:
 
Took the machine back yesterday and Lincoln shipped a replacement the same day despite them being on national backorder. Not too bad!

Its set up for 65" but not using it anymore. Not enough money or time :( Going to rock what I got for a bit and keep an eye out for a set of axles that are already built.

60 is for sale if anyone is interested as are the wheels.

What are the wheel specs? bolt pattern? backspacing? size?
 
Dang! I was hoping those wheels were 8 lug. They look pretty cool.
